Description of 1949 Mercury Other

This car is a 49 mercury that belongs to a friend of mine. we built the car about 3 years ago and since then it has won multiple awards and has been driven 1500 miles including several trips of 3 hrs or more. The car is truly one of a kind. The car was started by a welder/fabricator and the frame is all hand built. It has a c4 corvette rear suspension system and brakes with the c4 front suspsenion and brakes to match. There are 16 inch chrome wheels with new tires all around. There is a full air ride system and the car can be raised or lowered at the push of a button from the center console and you can see the air pressure in each corner by the read out. The engine is a 350 chevy with a tri power set up on top. The car run's great not much of a cam so it run's smooth and the gas mileage is pretty good since we have the secondary carbs shut off. The transmission is a 350 automatic it shifts perfect and does not have any issues. The steering column is a tilt and teliscopic from a late 60's cadillac and we installed a silver metalic wheel. The dash is custom from a 50's ford that we covered to match the seats. After that we had a polished stainless panel hand made to fit the gauges. a/c vents and controls. The center console is from a 63 t-bird. We also covered that to match the interior. There is also were we installed the radio with a gps system in it. There are power windows with switches in the door panels and the drivers seat is a power seat from a late 90's mitsubishi with the headrest removed and all new upholstery. The rear seat is from a 63 t-bird and wraps around the corners of the car and is covered with a matching design and lined with the rear and door panels. We installed a rear view mirror with a camera so you have no problems seeing behind you. Both front door are pop locks since all the outside trim and handles are removed and both front doors are also custom made suicide doors and I have not seen anything like this before since the fabricator was a welder they are way over built and should never have an issue. The rear trunk lid has a power set up so from the front of the car you hold a button and open or close it with the electric motors we installed. The entire car has been rewired and has a painless kit installed to handle all the upgrades. The body has been chopped about 3 1/2 inches. The bumper both front and rear have been removed and a replacement metal/fiberglass panel was molded into place and custom trim was made around the front marker lights all in metal. The rear tail lights are from a 59 cadillac. The front grill is from a 57 corvette and is mounted like it's floating in the opening that was hand formed for it. The headlights are recessed into the fenders for a flush look. The wipers are electric and perform well the one time we got caught in the rain at an event. The underside of the car has been painted in a gloss black and still looks good. The body paint is a two tone ppg silver star metalllic on the top and the blue bottom is ppg blue metallic over a silver base. Both of these colors are from the vibrance catalog and can be touched up if needed in the future. We have skirts on the car and they are painted to match the body blue color. The paint is amazing it changes colors as you walk around the car! Under the hood we painted the motor to match the body blue color. Then we had polished stainless panels made and installed all the way around and on the hood for a mirror effect it came out great we also installed a power hood latch to help release the hood. The hood has also been curved on both edges to mold into the front of the car more smoothly. I am sure there's even more that I have just forgotten about but I am sure you will not be disappointed in this car or any of the work.
