1970 Mercury Cougar XR7 Very Rare 351C 4V & 4 speed

She has less then 53,000 originalmiles. You will not find another like her. A dry south west New Mexico car its whole life. The original owner ordered a "sleeper"; No AC, No power brakes, and originally No power steering (less then 10% of all cougars were ordered without power steering) it was added by 3nd owner who owned a ford dealership.

The car hasfactory 10" drum brakes that work perfectly. It has the factory Competition Suspension package that only the "M" code cougar or its big brother "the 428 CJ Eliminator" would have as options. The car starts right up on choke with one tap of the gas pedal. It drives very well, steers great, brakes perfect, No pulling orswaying. The car is a BLAST to drive, puts a smile on your face even after you get out.

Has deluxe interior,vinyl roof, console, clock, tachometerand a few more rarities (see Marti report included).

Over all condition:

• Exterior: NO-RUST, Original paint has some light scuffs & scratches. Has paint chips here and there, most on the passenger door (see pic), onesmall dingon front ofhood noseand one onfront valance corner (pass side). Roof in excellent condition, no tears, no bubbles. Has the original wheels that the 1st owner had with the car. Missing the center caps but have new plastic Legendary caps on the way thisweek.

• Interior: All original, drivers seat has a few rips, passenger seat has very minor cracks, dash pad has hair line cracks, still beautiful! The carpet, headliner, door panels rear seat all arein excellent original condition. Some light condition issues on console and glove box door. The gauges are in excellent condition, all work as should except the clock. All dome lights, window felts and rubber seals are good condition.

• Drivetrain: Runs and drives great. The close-ratio 4spd is tight and smooth. Theclutch pedal is further out than brake pedal and chatters a bit when the clutch pedal is almost all the way out, might need adjusted or replaced at some point. No leaks, 3.25 ratio 9" rear-end is smooth with no noises. Has the original Autolite 4 barrel carburetor is clean inside and out, but still may need a rebuild at some point due sitting more often then not. Sometimes, it will start to load-upon cold starts and when on choke and caused some light smoke at tailpipe. Clears up when driven. Has BF Goodrich TA radials with less then 200 miles on them, no cracking or leaks and allrecently balanced & new valve stems.

• Other: Comes with the original cougar floor mats, spare rim & tire but the tire is no good.

• Title: I purchased the car froman estate sale and have a clear title and Bill of Sale, but purposely did not re-title the car, due to it showing an additional owner. If buyer would rather receive a title with my name on it, that's not an issue.It would only take me 30 minutes at my local MVD office.
