Description of 1959 MG MGA

This car has been built as a lightweight roadster, using a one-off fiberglass body, alloy wheels, and a rebuilt 5 main bearing MGB engine, with a new Rivergate 5-speed conversion, with Datsun 280ZX gearbox. The body was hand laid in Canada by the owner of an original Sebring twin cam, to serve as his daily sportscar; original aluminum doors, hood and trunk lid are retained. A 1966 vintage B engine was rebuilt, using .060 over bore pistons to yield 1868cc, and received some mild head porting. During my ownership, I have added a new Rivergate Datsun 5-speed, with 0.75 overdrive 5th, which drops cruising rev's at 60 MPH from the stock 3750, to 2800RPM. The paint was just redone, in stock Glacier Blue urethane. The wheels are vintage Western Wheel Minilites, 14in. by 6in., powder coated, with new 175/65/14 radials, and original brass knock-offs added to mimic the Sebring look,( they are easily removed, and don't hinder wheel removal. A new Moss polished stainless exhaust was fitted, new plugs, wires, dizzy guts, and carb's synced. New front tie-rods and boots were installed, and most of the brake system replaced, including new front calipers and hoses, rear shoes and slave cyl's, and new master cylinder. A new toneau cover is included, but not installed. Also included is the original, said to be rebuilt 4-speed box, and a fiberglass hardtop, needing some assembly/work. All floors were replaced with new marine plywood, or aluminum sections, and gas tank was removed, cleaned and sealed. With the Rivergate kit, comes all new clutch, flywheel, engine plate, slave Cyl., and gear reduction starter. The car starts instantly, drives and shifts well, but has soft brakes, despite all the new parts. I believe I used the wrong, early M.C. rather than the late, disc brake version, and that will need attention. All gauges work except the fuel level, which always reads full. This is a fun and attractive A that will not have any future rust issues, and with some finishing touches will be a great driver. I have posted two short video's on youtube, under Toms 59 MGA, start-up, and driveaway. I can't get eBay to let me post the link here, but can email it to you, of call me at 231-946-0724 with any questions. Also having trouble with eBay milage listing, on odometer it is 88,404, but may not be accurate. Thanks!
