Description of 1955 MG T-Series 1955 MG TF 1500 ROADSTER. MATCHING NUMBERS ENGINE.

Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this really lovely MG TF 1500 Roadster in rare and attractive original colors. This well-preserved car was just purchased out of a prominent MG car collection in the San Francisco bay area where it had been stored in a climate controlled building since 1989. This car runs and drives well and has been lightly cosmetically restored as needed over the years. The MG factory only produced approximately 3300 units of this final and most desirable 1500 model with the factory fitted with wire wheels, and is considered the highest priced "T" model on the market. The bodywork and paint on this car present extremely well. Panel fit is superb with per factory gapping, the car believed to have never been apart. The car currently wears a good but single older repaint over it's original. The car paint meters all around as just a single respray would. It 's nice and glossy overall. It's showing some small chips on panel edges from normal use. Chromework is very good to mostly excellent all around. The car still retains it's original triplex windshield in great shape. Body rubber is still quite good as well. The car's interior is very nice. It's a mix of mostly original items along with a set of lovely re-upholstered red leather seats and older, but still nice, fawn cloth weather equipment. This includes all matching top, tonneau cover and original sidecurtain set. The carpets look original ! The dashboard switches and instruments are all operating and they look superb. The wood/alloy Motolita steering wheel is a great touch.Mechanically, the car seems to be in fine fettle. We've just got the car running and driving after it's years of hibernation. It runs and drives well with a great engine and gearbox, good brakes/clutch. Oil pressure is stable and excellent, there is no exhaust smoke, and the engine revs smoothly. It could use a new tire set and a simple ignition/fuel tune up, but it's a great driver.Overall, this extremely well-preserved, matching numbers, TF 1500 is a scarce find and is finished in a rare and highly attractive color scheme. It's led an easy life here, being sourced from Northern California, and is the most desirable and final MG T model produced.
