Description of 1954 MG T-Series

MG T-Series . 1954 TF 1500 in British Racing Green.

Very solid car in excellent condition. Runs and drives great, everything works. This car turns heads wherever it is driven and is a really fun car. I've owned it for about 2 years and drive it regularly around the airport where I keep it and occasionally to cruise night or a local car show.

This 1954 MG TF 1500 went through a nut and bolt, museum quality restoration in the early 1980's. I have receipts from the previous owner who owned the car since the 60's (or late 50s, he couldn't remember)showing some $18,000 spent on the restoration. Everything was replaced, restored, or rebuilt including the engine, transmission, brakes, differential, etc.I purchased the car when theagingcoupledecided to downsize their home and no longer had an adequate place to store the car. I'm told that the drive train is original to the car by the previous owner, I'm not really an MG guy and don't know how to confirm this, just taking his word since he owned the car for 50 plus years.

The car was driven little but started regularly and kept in a garage, only accumulating some 400 miles since the restoration. I did the normal flushing of the fuel system, cleaning carbs, fluid changes, etc. tomake it roadworthy. Additionally I replaced items such as the points, battery, hub caps, rear bumper, taillight bezels, and various other itemsthat were showing their age. I would not say this is a show car, as the restoration is older, but it is a very solid, very clean, good looking and good driving car. It doesn't leak, smoke, or make noise, doesn't runhot, and has good oil pressure.Brakes and 4-speedtransmission work fine, engine runs strong, clutch, steering and suspension are tight. Michelin tires were put on at restoration and hold air andhave like new tread but are dry-checkedfrom age.

Tan interior is very nice, in like new condition, leather seats are in excellent shape. All instruments work except the tachometer which worked initially when I got the car running but then stopped working. Paint is in very good condition with good luster and depth,no dents or rust, only a couple of smalltouch ups on chips that I can find. Onesmall, shallow scratch on hood which would likely sand out easily, and one small blister in paint on right bonnet which you can see in the picture. Painted dash shows a couple of cracks in paint andchips.Overall very good driver quality paint and wouldn't take much work to make it show quality again. Windshield is in good condition, Convertible top is worn in a couple of places and needs to be replaced, the frame for the top is very clean and restored like the rest of the car. I have all the side curtains, vent fairings hardware, etc. which are old but in good condition. I have the manual engine crank, jack, and tool kit that go with the car

Underneath the car is very clean as well. Frame is painted or powder coated, all suspension components replaced during restoration. This caris obviously not perfect, but very clean and solid and fun to drive.

Ask any questions through ebay and I will try to respond quickly.I encourage you to come look at this car, it is located in Lakeland, Florida convenient to the Tampa or Orlando airports.Buyer is responsible for shipping but I will assist however I can. I can also store the car indoors for up to 30 days if needed after the sale. I have a variety of spare parts in a couple of boxes that come with the car.

This car is for sale locally so I reserve the right to cancel the auction at any time. Thanks for looking and happy bidding, this car won't disappoint!

I’m adding this as a self professed MG expert wrote me saying this may not be a factory 1500. I was told by the owner who restored the star that it is the “desirable 1500 model” but I am not an MG expert. I don’t know if this is a factory 1500 or if during the restoration he upgraded the engine. It does not have the 1500 emblems but they may not have been put on after paint.

I will research but in the interest of disclosure this may be the smaller engine. Nonetheless a very nice, top-quality though older restoration
