Description of 1976 MG MGB

1976 MGB that has been heavily modified. Ford 302 small block V8 mated to a Ford T-5 5 speed manual transmission. AFR high flow aluminum heads. Holley double pumper carburetor. Custom exhaust with side pipes (small mufflers on each side, aggressive growl but not obnoxious). Custom polycarbonate windshield. It has a welded-in roll bar, and 4-point seatbelts for both seats. Absolutely crazy power to weight ratio! Super fun to drive around, and turns heads like crazy.
The dash was custom made from a single piece of walnut salvaged from a log floating in the great lakes. No rust. Custom pedal assembly. The rear "fin" on the photos is removable (I never used it as it keeps the trunk from opening).
People always ask if the car is nose heavy with the huge V8. NO! It replaced a heavy iron block 4 cylinder. All of the extraneous gear is gone. No smog stuff. No heater. No AC. No ventilation fan, etc. All gone. Weight is about the same as stock!
A lot of the modifications were professionally done by a shop in Madison, Wisconsin. About two years ago (pre-pandemic) I had the car professionally completely gone through by an antique car mechanic to sort out some small issues.
NO RESERVE auction. Let's see where this goes!!!

Issues:The car HAS NO TOP. It was sacrificed for the build to get the sleek windshield. Therefore sunny cruising only. The side "windows" are custom and do not roll down. The paint looks pretty good from about 6 feet away, but does have small blemishes. The rear differential is original, and is quite strong, but will definitely not take repeated clutch dumps / launches. If you want to race it on the strip, you should put in a beefier rear end.Brakes are original, with original drums in the rear. It stops fine, but the brakes are not up to track use obviously. Comes with a spare tire, but the spare has a flat. Tires are pretty old but usable, but should probably be replaced soon. The radiator fan is not automatic, you have to turn it on with a switch if you are sitting in traffic. The radiator is a bit undersized, and the car does not like sitting in traffic in hot weather. But cruising around is fine. The windshield is sleek but low. I'm 6'2" and the windstream hits the top of my forehead. Speedometer currently does not work, and needs to be hooked up to the transmission. Car mileage is unknown.
Car is located in Gig Harbor, Washington. You are welcome to come take a look at it, or welcome to Facetime if you want to see something specific. Or I can take specific pictures you want. Car has never been driven or titled in Washington (I brought it with me when I moved, and then had kids...) Car has a current Wisconsin title. Starts right up and runs great. Give me a call or text at (615)-480-5766. I love to talk about the MGB!
