Description of 1965 Mini Cooper S

Original family owned 1965 Austin Mini Cooper S. My dad ordered this car from British Leyland in 1964 and picked it up in London 1965. Driven in England for the summer then shipped back to the U. S. This car is not a restored concourse car by any means. It was driven daily for many years by my father. It was garaged in 1990 upon his passing in 1991. It remained in our family garage until 2005 simply because I had no where to keep it at the time. I was only 11 years old when we purchased it so I will give its history as correct to my knowledge as I can. It is left hand drive and all original except for a few items. My dad installed a wood dash panel. a tachometer. small steering wheel. fog lights and radio. He cut two holes in the front fender for the antennae. ( I removed the radio and antennae but the holes remain) I believe at some point in the late 70's he had someone repaint it the same color. It has the original seats. upholstery. head liner. It has never been wrecked and has 45. 25 original miles. It has the 1275cc motor with dual carbs. As far as I can tell it has no rust and the underside body panels appear rust free and in good shape for a car that's 50 years old. I purchased new carpet from “Mini Seven” and had it installed as well as two new fog lamps. I also have the chrome body molding that runs over the tire wells and along under the doors but have not installed it. Since the car had been garaged for around 15 years I took it to Red Ink Racing in Lawrence Kansas which is the closest shop that still works on Minis of this vintage. I had it there twice and spent approx $12000. 00 having all the break lines. fuel lines. hydraulic lines. radiator. clutch transmission bearings etc gone through as well as new tires. It has the hydralastic suspension which is a little low on fluid but Red Inks pumping machine was broke down so it hasn't been filled. Just makes for a little rougher ride. I have all receipts for the work done and I can provide the name and number of the shop owner if you have any questions. I have the original invoice from British Leyland showing the dates the car was ordered. picked up. the original price. and with my dad's signature. I also have the original owners manual. The car is located in Kansas City. Missouri. It is for sale locally besides the internet so I reserve the right to end the auction at anytime. I will only accept cash or certified checks no pay pal and a nonrefundable deposit of $500. 00 is required. The car must be picked up locally once certified funds are verified.
