Description of 1959 Nash Rambler American |
Less than 60. 00 miles on a 1959 Rambler American Deluxe Sedan. You might hear this all the time. . . but this car was owned by a little old lady from the Bay Area! She bought it new and drove it until it started smoking. and then she sold it to a family friend in the 1980's. where it has been sitting ever since. (The title is dated 1983. ) This cute car still runs and drives. but the engine smokes. We installed a new brake master cylinder. and all 4 wheel cylinders are brand-new. All of the brakes shoes are new. and all 4 drums were turned. All 3 flexible brake lines were replaced. as well as several sections of metal brake line. The original AM radio hums when you turn it on. but never seems to find a station. Both of the original gold-and-black license plates are still on the car. The fuel tank was professionally cleaned out. repaired. and then lined. The pick-up tube was replaced. The only thing we didn't do was replace the fuel gauge sending unit. (Couldn't find one in time. ) The original fuel pump works. but it leaks gas. so we installed an electric pump for now (and bypassed the mechanical pump) so that the car can be started safely and driven. While there is a lot of surface rust. there isn't any cancer; the body is solid and. overall. very straight. All of the glass is good. The car has a new battery and water pump. and the radiator was recently repaired. The clutch works well; it's smooth and solid. The tires are all holding air and have plenty of tread. but the sidewalls are so badly cracked that the tires are unsafe. The heater core has been disconnected. so I assume that it leaks. The headliner is in pretty good shape. but the rest of the interior is pretty well worn out. This vintage ride needs a lot of TLC. but it's a great vehicle to start with! It's not your usual Camaro or Mustang project; it's different. And being smog-exempt in California. you can do anything you want to it and still get registration. (Car is on non-op. so there are no back fees. Title is clean / clear. ) Free trailer delivery to the greater Sacramento area. Call / text / email Morgan at 53O-32O-3233 for more info. You can come and look at this car almost anytime (except Saturday) and we have a lift here on the property to help with the inspection. I do have this advertised for sale locally. so I reserve the right to end the auction if I get a good offer. Thanks for looking! |
