Description of 1993 Nissan 300ZX

No Reserve!! 1993 Nissan 300ZX Convertible! Think Spring! 3. 0L DOHC V6 (VG30DE). auto transmission. Rear-wheel Drive Historic – cheap registration and insurance! Please read the description fully and ensure that you can meet the obligations of this auction before bidding. As is stated above. this is a NO RESERVE auction for a 1993 Nissan 300ZX convertible. This is one of the iconic models from Japan’s early – mid 90s heyday of producing affordable sportscars. along with the Supra. RX-7 and 3000GT. This one is in need of some TLC. but runs and drives well. and would be a good candidate to drive and restore. Unlike most of these older Z-cars. this one does not appear to have been abused. but it also hasn’t been kept in a museum. so time has taken its toll. These cars are getting harder to find. especially with relatively low mileage. With the new year nearly upon us. this is the perfect time to pick-up a classic convertible like this one and get it ready for the spring and summer. This 300ZX is a non-turbo model. It has the naturally aspirated VG30DE 3. 0L DOHC V6. rated at 222hp. The engine starts up quickly. and does not smoke or have blow-by. The oil pressure is good and it does not overheat. The engine does feel like it could use a tune-up. If you punch the accelerator there is a slight hesitation before it takes off. Acceleration is reasonable for a 21 year-old non-turbo sportscar. The automatic transmission shifts up and down through its gears normally. without any slipping or hard shifts. The brakes feel very strong. The big 4-pot calipers on the front can haul this car to a stop with little effort. The suspension is still firm. but feels like it is due for new shocks and bushings. One problem I have noticed during driving is a moderate vibration that becomes apparent above 50mph. This is most likely coming from the carrier bearing on the drive shaft. That can be replaced. but many opt to just get an aftermarket 1-piece shaft to replace the stock drive shaft. The maroon exterior paint shines up well when washed. and looks good from a distance (and great in these pics). but definitely has imperfections up close. There is the occasional ding or scratch. and in a few small areas on the front bumper the clear coat has peeled. When you take a very close look at the front fenders it looks like they were splashed with some kind of chemical that took off the clear coat (pictured). The original alloy wheels are still fitted. and the tires all have good tread depth. The only rust I have found is a small area of surface rust in front of the passenger's side rear wheel well (pictured). The convertible top is in decent shape. but gets the expected small leaks in the front corners. Unfortunately. when I put the top down to take the pictures. the rear window split. I have repaired it with gorilla tape to keep the elements out. but it will need to be replaced at some point. The plastic rear and side windows have also developed that “fogged” appearance. The lower section of the front bumper has a small split that has been repaired. and the power antenna is not working. The exterior lights all appear to work. The right turn signal lights blink quickly. indicating that one bulb is out. but they all appear to be working. Maybe one bulb has a single bad filament? The windshield wipers work. but need new wiper refills. The black interior of this Z-car is in below average condition. The leather seats are faded. There is a tear on the passenger’s headrest. The driver’s seat has tears in the base. and so a cover has been put on it. The steering wheel has a few tears. The black carpets are faded but in decent shape. except for a tear at the base of the dead pedal. The power windows and power mirrors work. The power seat adjustments on the driver’s seat seem to work. but are weak. The cruise control works. and the heater will cook you on a freezing cold day. The A/C feels like it is blowing cold air compared to the outside air. but it is difficult for me to be certain that it is working. This car has heated mirrors. but I haven’t had the correct conditions to test them. All of the gauges work. and there are no warning lights showing on the dash. There is a driver’s side airbag. The glove box latch is broken and needs to be replaced. The roof latch on the driver’s side is missing its hook. and that needs to be replaced. I currently have secured it with a zip-tie. The dash and door panels would be in decent shape. but unfortunately the passenger’s side of the dash has been severely marked. It looks like something hot fell onto the dash and burned a cross-hatched pattern into it. or some moron with a cigarette decided to make an art project on the dash. Either way. it’s ugly. The radio works. but the display on the radio does not. There is a CD player. but I have not tested it. The driver’s door lock does not work. but the passenger’s lock does. so you can lock the car. This would make a great car for someone looking for a “drive and restore” sportscar. It needs a good going over. but with a few small fixes it would at least be ready for top-down cruising when the weather starts to warm up in just a few months. or sooner! I drove it in 38 degree weather with the top down and windows up / heater on and it was very comfortable. This car is eligible for cheap historic registration and insurance. I believe this car is overall in slightly below average condition for the age and mileage. but that is mostly due to the wear and tear of time. not abuse. Many of these Z32’s are in below average condition because they have been beaten on pretty hard by previous owners. This one has just aged. This is not a museum piece. it has been driven. it needs work. Please read the description thoroughly. examine all of the supersized pictures and ask any questions before the close of the auction.
