REAL Y74 FACTORY OPTION PACE CAR CONVERTIBLE WITH FULL DOCUMENTATION AND MATCHING "AS IT WAS BORN" NUMBERS. EQUIPPED WITH "ROCKET 350" V8 MATED TO THE POWERFUL FLOOR MOUNTED AUTOMATIC SHIFTER. THIS IS NOT YOUR RUN OF THE MILL PACE CAR REPLICA SOLD TO THE PUBLIC IN 1970. THIS IS A REAL "INDY 500" PARADE LAP CAR. ON MAY 30, 970 IT WAS ON THE PARADE LAP #121 OF ONLY A HANDFUL THAT ACTUALLY SAW REAL TRACK DUTY AT THE INDY 500. IT WAS ASSIGNED TO AND OPERATED ON THE TRACK BY A GM ENGINEER OF THE TIME, ALE SMITH, HO ENJOYED IT WHILE DRIVING AROUND THE TRACK FOR PARADE LAPS AS WELL AS THE FULL INDY WEEK OF ACTIVITIES PRIOR TO IT BEING RETURNED TO THE LOCAL DEALER AND SOLD TO THE PUBLIC. ORIGINAL DOCUMENTATION TO SUPPORT THIS INCLUDES, OTH THE INDY PACE CAR INFORMATION AS WELL AS THE ORIGINAL OWNERS MANUAL. OLDSMOBILE PRODUCED ONLY 358 CONVERTIBLE PACE CAR REPLICAS FOR SALE TO THE PUBLIC. VERY FEW WERE TRUE PARADE LAP CARS AS THIS ONE WAS.
