Description of 1955 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight Coupe

It is a sad day for me as I have been asked to list my deceased friend's prizedpossession, nd today will probably be the last time I will ever drive this car again. He is now three years deceased and his elderly widow is ready to sell. I will be listing this vehicle for her, nd I will be answering all questions. She will not be available for any comment or questions as this process is not easy for her. I left her in tears after I dropped the vehicle off at her home today. Hopefully all bidders will understand.... a sad time indeed.
I am listing this stunning 1955 Oldsmobile Super 88 two door hardtop in turquoise and white in and out. This vehicle has been completely restored over the owners nearly 30 years of ownership. No expense was spared during this process. The engine and drive-line were completely rebuilt 12 years ago and was driven sparingly until the owners death in January of 2013. The body work and paint was done during the last 30 years of ownership. The interior, ncluding the headliner was done in the exact reproduction material of cloth and vinyl. All chrome wasdonein triple plate show chrome and some pieces were replaced with NOS. The car runs and drives effortlessly. The dual exhaust has a mild rumble with glass pack mufflers. The wide whitewall radials were new just prior to the owners death, s was theoriginalstyle show quality battery, xquisite top end base coat clear coat under hood detailing, xact reproduction trunk interior, nd a custom installed Secret Audio brand sound system including the radio dial in the glove-box, 10 disc CD changer in the trunk, nd high end speakers under the seat that work with a remote. The original radio worksseparatelyfrom this system. I am told that all equipment works as it should. We believe the mileage to be original but we have no absolute proof.
The car is equipped with a 324c.i. 4 bbl engine, ydra-Matic transmission, :42 ratio open rear differential, ower steering and brakes which were all rebuilt to factory specs, originalAM radio, ecret Audio sound system, kirts, iesta spinners, n optional Oldsmobile real out trunk mounted trouble light, ay night mirror, ocket Circle Club dash emblem, raffic light prism, nd many years of the most loving care a car could have. The car has a few minor flaws as can be expected where it concerns a driven car. There is a slight barelynoticeabledent on the upper rear panel just behind the rear window. There is a slight crack in the 1/4 panel right below the rear roof pillar on the right side. Both are very minor flaws. I have listed as many photos as e-bay will allow.
This car is theepitome of the old Oldsmobile ad slogan "Make a date with an 88", nd in my opinion this is the number one colorcombinationwhere it concerns desirability! The car is located in Massachusetts, nd the owner is inpossessionof a clear title. No bid will be considered from bidders with low, egative, r no feedback. All sales are final and the car has no warranty or guarantee as it is an antique car. A $500.00 non refundable deposit will be made via Pay-Pal at the auction close. Final payment will be made in person in cash or by a bank certified check in US funds. if payment is made by check, he title nor the car will be released until the funds have been cleared at the bank. I would like to deal with USA or Canadian buyers only. Bidders from Europe need to contact me prior to bidding. I will help with loading when the shipping carrier arrives to pick up the car. I will accept the shipping carrier during daylight hours only and the carrier needs tocommunicatewith me in English!! Please do not ask me to sell the car off E-Bay! The reserve price is a bargain compared with the over $75,000.00 spent on this vehicle over the past 30 years. I can be contacted at 603-483-2355 during reasonable hours Eastern Standard Time. I can answer any and all questions you may have. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time as the vehicle is for sale locally. Good luck and happy bidding!
