Description of 1968 Oldsmobile Cutlass Vista Cruiser

1968 OLDS VISTA CRUISER - ONE OWNER FROM 1968 to 2009

Presenting my '68 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser which I believe is one of the nicest condition survivors out there. This is an exceptionally clean vehicle, ery nice original interior, uns great, tc.

The car had one Southern owner (N. Carolina) from 1968 through 2009. He kept tons of service receipts going back to when it was new. I purchased it back in 2009 here on eBay. I probably paid way too much for it, ut given the rarity of nice Vista's I could not resist. I then spent considerable time and money to ensure it would be a reliable driver for years to come. You will find many photos at the end of the listing showing exterior, nterior, ndercarriage, tc. I think you will see that it is in remarkable condition for a vehicle of this vintage with no signs of damage or tin worm.

Shortly after purchase I rebuilt the entire suspension, ront and rear. Shocks, prings, ll bushings, ie rods, teering gear box, all joints, tc. I also added front disc brakes (original drum parts boxed up and come with the car). I put new tires on it and replaced the exhaust system. This Spring I went through the AC system, new original style hoses, new Pro6Ten compressor, tc. Also installed expensive BeCool OEM style radiator with aluminum core, new water pump, hermostat, an clutch, elts, tc. Carb has been rebuilt, rofessionally tuned, dded pertronix electronic ignition under the rotor cap, tc. Replaced the motor mounts, hanged all fluids, nstalled Halogen headlamps (being able to see at night is a good thing), new starter (working original comes with car), new alternator, robably a bunch of other stuff I have forgotten. Runs great with a sound you can only get from a small block V8. This is a largely original car not a full blown restoration.

A few things that need attention. This Spring the fuel gauge stuck past the full mark. I have not pulled tank to see if it is ground wire to sending unit (I can feel frayed insulation) or could be a bad sending unit. Dashboard has what seems to be a cut in it, do not think it is a crack more like someone had cut something while it was placed on top of the dash. Not noticeable enough that I consider it worth repairing but I have provided a close up picture. Small tear on the backrest of passenger front seat. Some expected flaws in paint from nearly 50 years of life but no dents or body rot. Original carpets are in great shape, ome fading in 2nd row where mats do not cover the carpet..

When I bought it the paint was claimed to be original. I'm not sure if that is true that but I am reasonable convinced that if any paint work it was for cosmetic reasons (i.e., n the one door there are some paint chips and the paint underneath the chip appears to be a shade off).

This Vista has power windows, actory AC, nbsp;factory 8-track (rebuilt), rd row seat. Ivory white with black interior. Glass is all good and no leaks. Original headliner in very good to excellent condition. I would not hesitate to take this car on a long trip with the family (although as with any 50 year old car, eeping some tools in the back would be a good idea). i do have the factory shop manual, oads of original purchase and service documentation,and various spare parts that will come with the car including original drum brakes, riginal AC compressor (which I think works), set of rear axle bearings (unique to the 68-69 series), tc.

Reserve price is essentially what I paid for the car in 2009, ou are getting all the work completed for free! My goal was a reliable, riveable classic with some additional safety touches like the front disc brakes. Many of the parts I replaced were not bad (I kept the originals), simply took the aircraft mechanics approach and replaced things that could fail due to age. Turn the key and drive it as is or with very little additional effort you can turn it into a show-winning restoration.

I have been really hesitant to list this car for sale, planned to keep it for many more years. Met my spouse in an identical '68 Vista so it was an emotional purchase when I bought it. Why sell now you ask? Reality is that I've now been out of work for a few months. Despite a "resume to die for", n MBA, tc. I am discovering that there is not much of a job market for white males over 50.

OK, he usual disclaimer stuff. This is a used vehicle that is almost 50 years old. While I have made every effort to honestly describe it, may have missed some scuff, ome squeak, r something else. Old stuff is old stuff. A part that is functioning perfectly today could break tomorrow. As a 50 year old car it does not have airbags or many of the safety and comfort features you will find on a new vehicle. It kind of is "your father's Oldsmobile". The vehicle is sold "as is" and "where is". You are welcome to inspect it, r have it inspected any time PRIOR to the end of auction. I will gladly answer any questions about the vehicle you have. Pick up and transport are the responsibility of the buyer, t the buyer's expense. I will make every reasonable effort to accommodate you in terms of pick up / transport. PayPal deposit of $500 due at close of auction. Full payment due 7 days after auction unless prior arrangements agreed to. I will store the car indoors for up to 60 days after the auction ends / payment received while you arrange pick-up or transport.

I have sold a number of vehicles on eBay over the years and try to play by the golden rule. It benefits no one if there are "surprises" upon taking delivery. I am not a dealer, ust a car nut who spends too much time on money on the vehicles he buys and owns.
