Description of 1968 Oldsmobile Cutlass |
If you hate attention and don't have time to talk to everyone when you are driving . getting groceries. getting gas. etc. then this is not the car for you! This is a 1968 Oldsmobile Cutlass in "pull me over" red with black interior. The car has 88. 00 original miles on it and I would say it shows. This is a "no post" design so when the windows are down the is no dividing line between the front and rear seating area. a look that is sought after but hard to find today (See Pics). The original motor was a 350 Rocket and it was replaced with a lower mileage 425 Big Block out of an Oldsmobile Delta 88 for more power. The 425 Big Block is a really rare engine sought after by drag racers due to having a stronger crank than a 454. It runs smooth and shifts smooth with tons of "put you in your seat" power! The heat and air were removed to make room for the engine swap. No wind gets in so I'm more than comfortable driving when it's cold with just a jacket on. I was going to install an A/C from Old Air Products for about $800 but haven't committed to it yet. There is no rust in the pan. floor boards. underneath. or in the trunk other than the light surface stuff shown in the pictures. no rotted through places though. I was going to put and original style radio in it but I'll leave that up to the new owner since tastes differ. The current radio worked but after weeks of rewiring the whole car I didn't bother hooking it back up. This was a wiring nightmare but I got it all figured out and it will last for years. It's also been changed from the 3 wire to a 1 wire Alternator set up which is way more reliable. The paint is not horrible but could use some touch ups and a good wet sand and buff. No one ever complains about it though. but it is not perfect. The bumpers are pretty straight but could use a re-chrome job. I basically got the car with no interior other than seats and was able to find the door panels used. all the other interior is new. New front seat foam and upholstery. new trunk weather-strip. new rear upholstery. new headliner. new sun visors with new hardware. seatbelts have been washed and cleaned. newer carpet. I put all new upper weather-stripping around the upper and lower windows and window sills so now there are no leaks when it rains or when you wash it. Tires are almost new. Brand new 750 cfm Holley Carburetor. new fuel pump. new rear differential fluid and seal. and new transmission filter and pan seal. I have done so much to this car it's impossible to remember. I have put and lot of time. effort. and money in this and now I need to move on to my other projects (I have to sell one to fund the others). I have a lot of parts that come with it and failed to mention all of the little things I've done. I also don't have time for people to point all of the flaws and tell me my car is a piece of junk my 47 year old car is. If you're truly interested and a real American muscle car enthusiast. let's make a deal. This is not a perfect car but it is a rare find and well worth the time and effort. I have a clear Georgia title in my name with actual mileage stated. no Odometer decrepencies. Thanks and good luck! |
