Description of 1960 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight Super 88

This Olds was in absolutely gorgeous condition, until a fire in the right rear wheel area caused its current state about 7 weeks ago. I was told, the fire was probably the result of a hanging right rear brake. I have owned this car for eleven years and never drove it in the rain. It still wears its beautiful original Dresden Blue paint and interior, has no rust throughs and no body filler. The drive train is in excellent shape. Now to the current condition:The body did not get warped by the fire, the sheet metal is intact, it still has an absolutely straight and rust free body and frame. The front seat's original upholstery was protected by the clear vinyl cover.Even the seat cushion of the rear seat can probably be cleaned up. I ran a test spot on the left door panel, using Greased Lightning Cleaner, showing in one of the pictures how it can be brought back. Possibly the panel style headliner can be cleaned too. As can be seen in the pictures, the original chrome is in very presentable shape and the front tires are brand new original style B.F. Goodrich 8.50-14 reproductions. I also mahad managed to find and install OEM style oil shocks, so this car rides like a magic carpet. Now to the bad:The car will need a new rear windshield and rubber seal and package tray (all available), as well as new rear tires. The rear seat back burned down to the frame and needs to get completely re-upholstered. The right rear side window (flat plate glass) has a crack from the heat. The whole interior needs a thorough clean-up to remove the soot. The rear brake hose and wheel cylinders will need to be replaced and the wrecker unfortunately broke the exhaust when loading the vehicle.
This car is far too nice to end up in a salvage yard, or to be parted out and I like it to go to a good home. My low starting price without a reserve reflects that hope.Feel free to contact me for further questions. I can also be reached by phone at (804) 436 2977
