Description for Oldsmobile Golden Rocket 88 1957

The Old Oregon Motor Company presents: 1957 Oldsmobile Golden Rocket 88 J-2 Holiday 2-door Hardtop. Sunset Glow Copper/Pearl White/Black accents. This is a stunning example of a rare, optional J-2 Tri-powered, 1957 Oldsmobile Holiday 88! This car also features the X-marks cut into the corners of the cowl tag which (we believe) indicates that this J-2 option was installed by the factory, rather than the far more common dealer-installed J-2 packages. This car has many Super 88 features and trim parts. The paint is two years old and is an original "themed" Tri-toned car with modern urethane paint colors of Sunset Glow Copper, Pearl White top, and Black Accent stripe, with matching factory three tone interior of Copper and White leather, and Black NOS-type cloth material from SMS Auto Fabrics. This car is powered by the correct 371cid V8 with the rare "NASCAR Bump" valve covers and the infamous J-2 option producing 300h.p., mated to a four speed Jetaway Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. There is power steering, power brakes, an NOS clock converted to quartz, courtesy lights, new Super 88 wheel covers from Fusick Oldsmobile Parts, and big whitewall radial tires from American Classic tire. No expense was spared on this car with the following performed: New tinted windshield, new tinted date-coded side glass, as well as re-chromed side glass surround and vent window assemblies. Re-chromed front and rear bumpers. Polished stainless steel trim. All emblems, tail light bezels, head light bezels, and front grill re-chromed or replaced. Turn signal and brake light lenses replaced with new ornaments from Fusick. New interior redone to Super 88 trim level with re-anodized headliner bows and relocated dome lights as originally found on Super 88's. Correct Super 88 molded arm rest interior door panels and rear interior quarter panels. Correct new Daytona carpet from Fusick as well as Dynamat sound deadener throughout the car including the headliner and the trunk. New steering wheel from Fusick. Alpine hidden CD Stereo with remote, new speakers, and subwoofer. Windshield wipers converted from vacuum to electric using 1957 Chevrolet wiper motor and conversion kit. Heavy duty ADDCO front sway bar. Converted from points to Pertronix III pointless ignition with built-in rev-limiter. Rear-end and two piece drive-line rebuilt. Newer battery (2018). New drive-shaft carrier mount from Fusick. New heater core from Fusick. Super 88 rear bumper with new exhaust ornaments from Fusick. NOS back up lights. New 1" lowering springs from Jamco Suspension on all four corners give the car the right stance and a better ride. New stock high-efficient rebuilt radiator with very rare fan shroud to help keep the motor cool on hot days and it works very well. The car was frame-on restored when all this recent work was done. However, in addition, it was previously frame-off restored in the 1980's by the first owner's son. Mileage shows approximately 43312 miles but not verifiable as original. The engine and transmission were said to have been rebuilt by the first owner's son during the frame-off restoration. This car is being sold by just the third owner. Needs nothing. Wonderful example. Don't miss it! Please call Bill Penny at (503) 209-5510 to answer all your questions! 1957 Oldsmobile Golden Rocket 88 J2 2-door Hardtop RESTORED, AUTHENTIC, STUNNING

About Us The Old Oregon Motor Co. takes its name from the original Oregon Motor Company, a Ford dealership established in Portland in 1904. In 1916, the company moved into their permanent showroom located downtown at NW 8th Ave. and Davis Street. Today, the building is an art gallery and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Unlike its namesake, The Old Oregon Motor Co. does not have a retail location but rather is virtual in nature. Our cars can often be found on eBay under our user ID oregonmotorcompany. If you wish to view our inventory in person, showings are by appointment only. Our proprietor, Bill Penny, has been selling classic cars for over 30 years. He has worked as a salesman for some of the most prestigious dealerships on the West Coast. They include The Chequered Flag of Beverly Hills, Silicon Valley Auto Group, the Imperial Palace Auto Collection, Northwest Investment Cars, and Monte Shelton Motor Company. He also has been employed by Keith Martin's Sports Car Market magazine. The Old Oregon Motor Co. was established on January 1st, 2011 and is licensed, bonded, and insured in the State of Oregon under dealer's license number DA 3528. Below is a photo of the original Oregon Motor Company showroom of 1916 as it appears today with the Overland building behind it. Note the faded Overland signage on the defunct auto elevator shaft.
