This factory built hot rod is powered by the original Numbers Matching 350 W-31 engine, special factory calibrated Hydramatic transmission, and 12 bolt posi-traction rear. This example is one the finest original W-31's available today.

Ordered new with the W-31 Package, and finished in the striking Matador red with Black interior, this car is wearing its original paint job very well. In fact, it is hard to believe it is the original after one look. Other options include hydramatic transmission, 3:91 Positraction rear, Manual DIsc brakes, Sport mirrors, SS1 rally wheels, tinted glass, original jack and spare tire.
In 1969 the insurance premiums were skyrocketing making it very hard for young buyers to get behind the wheel of the high performance muscle cars . Gm decided to produce a muscle car to get around the high insurance premiums, and this was the W-31 Performance Package. Many people take for granted the potency, but many big block muscle cars saw the tail lights of a 1970 Cutlass w-31.

The W-31 Package consisted of a special factory balanced and blue printed 350 with special .474 high lift camshaft, pistons, valves, and an oversized harmonic balancer. Special W-350 embossed aluminum high performance intake, and a special calibrated quadra-jet carburetor. The W-31 package also included a Factory Ram air system incorporating a Ram Air hood like the W-30 package with Sport mirrors and accent stripes. The car is not just good looks, the car handles very well in part to the FE-2 Performance suspension. The hydramatic transmission was strengthened for this package and a factory shift kit was installed. The cars had a 2800 stall converter installed from the factory as well. The positraction rear end really gets this W-31 engine to scream. This car has the W-27 Rear end cover installed on it as well.

Our W-31 is very original and is documented with the original owners manual, Shop manual, Dealer warranty jacket, Color Dealer Brochure, W-Machines booklet.

With only 1,029 being produced and falling into the hands of youths, seldom do you see such an original and untouched example such as this W-31. Our car has 45663 miles on the odometer and has been garage kept since new. The car retains most of its original paint, with the only touch up was cosmetic maintenance throughout its life. The engine bay is original and is very tidy. The trunk compartment is like new. When you carefully pull the original trunk mat back, it will display the cleanest and most original trunk pan that we have witnessed. The original SS1 Rally wheels are in great shape. This car is so so nice and will present well at the next car show. It is truly a one of kind.
