Description of 1965 Oldsmobile 442 W29 Convertible

1965 Oldsmobile true Code V. 442 / W29. convertible. factory 4 speed. Built in Lansing Michigan. Code 06B shows that this 442 was assembled during the second week of June in 1965. Only 3468 convertible 442’s were ever built in 1965. and only 1695 of those were 4 speed cars. Mileage: Garage kept and covered. the odometer shows 38550 miles. and is listed as “ACTUAL” miles on the clear Ohio title. Factory 4 speed. Factory floor console with tachometer. Factory installed front and rear sway bars with boxed lower rear control arms. Code H. Body Moldings. Body Side (thin aluminum strip. front to rear). Code S. power trunk release (in glove box). Code T. power driver’s seat. Code W. deluxe front seat belts with retractors. Lower body Code Y (saffron yellow). The interior is Code 950B (black) with bucket seats. Upper body Code 2 (white) convertible top. Rear stabilizer bar. Power convertible top. Power steering. Power brakes. Engine: NOM 1969 455 engine (casting 396021 F) with C heads (the best flowing heads ever made by Oldsmobile) and 4bbl carb. The engine has been rebuilt at some point. burns no oil and runs excellent. The motor is very strong and reliable and can be driven anywhere. Newer dual exhaust from the exhaust manifolds back. The car sounds fantastic! Transmission: 1969 Muncie close-ratio M21 and competition plus shifter. shifts perfectly. The back-up lights work as they should when in reverse. Rear end:The rear end is original with open gear. date code F115= assembled June 11th. 1965. Power brakes: Front disc. rear drum. The power brakes are strong and do not pull to either side while braking. Body: This 442 has no rust. There are no signs of accident damage on this 442. It appears to be all original metal with exception of a section of the trunk pan. The trunk floor pan has a large metal patch. but is solid. The trunk shows nice as it has been sprayed the correct color and has a trunk mat covering the patch. There is a spare tire and jack also mounted in the trunk. The original chrome and trim is in great condition. The driver’s window has a chip on the top edge. It cannot be seen when the window is all the way up or all the way down. It does not need to be replaced. nbsp;however I have an OEM replacement that comes with the car. Most of the rubber moldings and seals are original and showing their age. SS1 rally wheels with good tires. Top: The top is newer and in very good condition. One of the hydraulic cylinders is currently leaking. nbsp; however a replacement has been ordered and will be professionally installed. The top will work as it should upon delivery. Interior: The interior is in very nice condition with no rips or tears. The original steering wheel is in very good condition. The console mounted factory tachometer works as it should. The original AM radio is still in dash and in working condition; however the speakers are connected to a stereo with CD player mounted neatly under the dash. The turn signals cancel correctly. heater fan works intermittently. and lights all work as they should including the light under the hood and in the trunk. Please note: The cigarette lighter and trunk release are not in working condition. __________________________________________________________________________________ This 442 drives straight down the road with no play in the steering wheel. it runs. drives and shifts perfectly and is a pleasure to own and can be driven anywhere with confidence.
