Description of 1972 Oldsmobile 442

I am listing this 1970 Cutlass 442 W30 Tribute for a friend who lost his battle with cancer last year. He was one of the best electricians that I know and an avid Oldsmobile enthusiast and do it your selfer. This car was his baby and David spared no expense as he restored it from the bottom up. I will do my best to describe it from first hand knowledge and from an extensive folder of invoices totaling over 27K. David also had many other parts not included in this sale that will be up for grabs. So if you are looking for a super clean mostly rust free 68 F85 Cutlass,or an engine, trans, rear, black interior or any other 68-72 Cutlass trinkets let me know or come and look and make us and offer for everything.EngineThe fresh and robust 455 was built by a machine shop in Rochester NY. Dave purchased it turn key. It was built for a street machine so it is pump gas friendly and well mannered. The block is a desirable early 396021F casting, hot tanked, pressure tested and bored .30 over. CK-10 finish honed, main bores aligned checked, ARP main bolts. Crankshaft is standard, magna fluxed and polished. Rods magnafluxed and rebuilt with ARP studs. Sealed Power Forged .030 pistons with pressed pins. Sealed Power moly rings, Federal Mogul bearings. Melling hi pressure pump with hardened shaft and 8 qt Miloden oil pan. Clevite Performance hydraulic camshaft and lifters, Cloyes double roller timing chain. Duration @.050 232, lift .474 Lobe separation 113 degrees puts out strong power at 5500 rpm. C coded heads 9.8-1 compression. Valves are 2.0 intake, 1.62 exhaust. New guides and hardened seats. 3 angle valve job with mild pocket port. Matched double springs and retainers. ARP head bolts, Comp hardened tip push rods, new rocker arms with pivots and steel bridges. Edelbrock Torker intake, 850 CFM Holley double pumper, Fisher Performance harmonic balancer, Edelbrock valve covers top it all off.TransmissionMuncie 4spd I believe to be an M20 was rebuilt by Competition Gear in Waltham MA. It shifts smoothly and the reverse lockout is fully functional as well.Rear Differential12 bolt GM which came out of a 70 442. It was rebuilt with original GM axles, new bearings & seals & wheel studs, original posi unit with new clutch plates. A new Richmond 3.42 ratio ring gear and pinion set was also installed. The hosing was cleaned and painted.Suspension, bushings, shocks, brakes inc booster, cables, lines and hoses, basically everything mechanical has been rebuilt or replaced and is still in like new condition.BodyDaves biggest single expenditure was having the floors and rocker panels replaced. Over 10k spent on labor alone. Trunk floor and drop offs all look new. I couldn't find a single spot of rust or rot or patchwork under this car. There are a hand full of surface rust blisters around the top side. One on each side of the vinyl top trim clips. A couple more in the wheel wells around screw holes. Overall the body is in excellent survivor condition with a lot of the original paint in tact. The bright work is original GM and bumpers have been re chromed.InteriorThe interior is in excellent original survivor condition. The 4spd console needs a lid hinge and is in the trunk along with the glove box door. The hard and most expensive work has all been done to this car. Drive as is or give it a quick paint job and you will have a complete package with good value. Please ask questions and get clearance from the tower before placing a bid. Zero feedback bidders should contact me first to authenticate their commitment otherwise I may choose to delete and block your bid in order to be fair to the serious buyers. This car is also for sale locally and I encourage you to see in person, the car is stored in Lunenburg MA 01462. I will not end the auction early except for a BIN bidder. Buyer is responsible for all transport costs and no matter how you pay the funds need to be completely clear in my account before the car us picked up. Wire transfer or CIP would be preferred. There will be a non refundable good faith $500 paypal deposit due to winning bidder. I will NOT accept a paypal transfer for the balance of the purchase. Happy bidding and God Bless America!!
