Description of 1975 Triumph TR-6 - Rare French Blue - |
1975 Triumph TR-6 97K original miles Overdrive & hardtop Totally rust free Up for bids is this oustanding Triumph TR-6. I bought this car from a Triumph collector and enthusiast who had owned it since 2000. Sold new at Meriden Motors in Seattle, he car has remained bone stock and is just a great example from the penultimate year of TR6 production. Recently I took part in a 2 day rally to the Oregon Coast and the car was simply brilliant. Comfortable, porting and reliable, t performed beautifully from start to finish. I've posted some photos from that event further below. The car wears one repaint in its original color of French Blue, ode 126. The paint was done to good driver quaity standards, t's not show paint but has good gloss and shine. In my opinion it's perfect for a car that you can get out and use, ithout fear of getting a rock chip. Indeed, t has a few of them, long with some minor dings and imperfections if you put your nose up to it. Overall the car stands tall in spite of these real world flaws. All of the car's brightwork is in good original condtion. The bumpers have never been replated, hey show some light hazing in spots but are overall presentable. The car has pretty nice panel fit for a British-Leyland product. No rust issues anywhere, t's an exceptionally solid car. All of the glass are Triplex XXX originals, ncluding the windshield. It has 2 chips that have been professionally filled, o it's not perfect but is hanging in there after 40 years. Lower air dam is in great shape with no damage. Lights and lenses are all excellent, eadlights are Lucas originals. The Kamm-back tail looks crisp and clean. 1975 was the year they moved the 'Triumph' emblem from the top right of the tail to a center plinth on the bumper. Here's a Google StreetView of what Meriden Motor's address in Seattle looks like today, robably a nice old building back in the day. The Vybak soft top is original, t has good fit and finish and is still looking terrific. The hardtop is a great option this time of year, t transforms the car into a (relatively) air tight coupe. Included is a custom made stand for the hardtop. Clean and original trunk with the factory jack. The trunk floor isn't pretty, ut if you know what a rusty one looks like you'd call it beautiful. The interior is in great shape with very nice upholstery and carpets. The wood dash face has a good finish and the dash top is free of any cracks or splits. Even the seat belt holders on the sills are still present and functional. Switchgear all operates correctly - horn, ipers, ignals, tc - everything is working as it should. Gauges are all working and show good consistent readings. Interior lighting and dash illumination are both functional. The heater, an and ventilation controls work correctly, he heater is very effective at keeping the cabin warm, specially at your feet. Very clean sills and jambs with no rust issues. Clean rear cargo hold with original Kangol seat belt retractors. The boot and tonneau cover are both like new. And now for the best part: the mechanicals. This TR6 runs fantastic, ou're going to love the way this car drives. It starts readily and runs strongly with no smoke or noise, ust a really solid performer. Last weekend's rally covered back roads out to and along the Oregon Coast, his car didn't miss a beat and was a real kick the entire time. Listening to the exhaust while moving through the gears is something I never tired of. The car runs cool, hows good oil pressure, rakes well and handles perfectly. No quirks, o drama, ust turn the key and get ready for some spontaneous grinning. 400 miles of fun. The overdrive option is a big plus and it operates perfectly. Clean and original undercarriage,a spin-on oil filter adapter is the only deviation from stock. Zero rust issues, nd by some strange anomaly it doesn't leak any fluids. Just a nice tight driver that's ready for the open road. Click here for a gallery of all of the enlarged images.
