Description of 1917 Other Makes

1917 FWD 4x4 Model B 3 Ton Truck
Built in Clintonville WI by Four-Wheel-Drive Auto Company ( FWD ) Badger
The Four-Wheel-Drive Auto Company derived from the success of the "Battleship" four-wheel-drive car in 1908 and then created the FWD truck.
Total production of these trucks during WW1 was 3,000 for Great Britain, 82 for Russia, and 14,173 for the US.
It's successful application of four-wheel-drive principle that allows the short wheelbase - so convenient and city traffic.
In rear drive trucks 75% to 90% of the load is on the rear axle to provide sufficient traction. In FWD trucks 45% of the body is carried by the front axle.
This throws the load forward in the short wheelbase is the result.
The tires are solid rubber and with the rims weigh450 Lbs each. FWD vehicles were made with a track width of 4 ' 8 1/2 " so they could quickly be used on standard gauge rail line merely byremoving the rubber tire.
A Roden plastic model unopen is included
The grey and black paint is just a light coat of spray paint to highlight features
