Description of 1979 Chevrolet Corvette

NO RESERVE

TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER GOES THIS

1979 CHEVROLET CORVETTE

RARE L82 4 SPEED

LAST YEAR PRODUCTION FOR THE

L82 MANUAL TRANSMISSION

EARLY MODEL PRODUCTION

WITH 140 MPH SPEEDOMETER

What is probably the most widely known fact is that in 1979they made 53,807 Corvettes, a record year forCorvetteproduction that still stands today. Yes, there were a lot of Corvettes made in 1979, but how many were the coveted L82 4 speed models with great value enhancing options such as this one, and how many are still around?

Total L82/Hi-Po engines in 1979 = 14,516

Total 4-speedmanuals in 1979 = 12,353
Remember that not all high-performance engines came with 4-speedmanualsand not all 4-speedmanualscame with Hi-Po engines.
So, the actual production numbers of this combination are somewhere below the 12,353 vehicles.
Any way you look at it, they aren’t as common as some people think, and, there will be fewer as time goes on. If you have a 1979, be proud of it. If you’re looking for a 1979 L82 4 speed then you are one of the few people to have the gift of foresight.

If you are looking for a RARE CLASSIC COLLECTIBLE CORVETTE, then don’t let this one get away. There is a finite number of 1979 L82 4 SPEED CORVETTES in theworld, and that number will only go down.

This 40-year-old survivor starts up easily and runs very strong and fast, cruises straight, has a full clutch, shifts smooth and is a blast to drive. Comes with original keys and manuals.

This classic is not a trailer queen and it’s not perfect. However, it has HUGE POTENTIAL and presents well, is overall in good condition requiring little to take it to the next level. New paint would go a long way. This is a reliable daily driver the way it sits.

This classic is the masculine Hilton Brown Metallic in color matched up to a cool and comfortable light beige interior which was one of the most iconic and beautiful color combinations you could pick.

There are two small cracks in the dash pad. The windshield has a hairline crack and should eventually be replaced. It will need an A/C condenser. The body is very straight and solid with no visible cracks, but the paint is tired and has blemishes.

The window glass is intact as is the rear glass. The stainless is all there. The interior is in good condition and complete. The carpet is faded in places but has no holes or tears. No tears in the seats. The floor pans are solid, as is the undercarriage. All lights work as they should. Headlights are very responsive, they go up and down in unison. The gages work. The windshield wipers work. Radio and even the lighter works. There is a spare tire in the carrier and still has the factory lock and key that works perfectly. There is a like new T-Top storage pouch for the mirrored T-Tops. There are also Corvette locking handles for the T-Tops. The rear cargo area privacy shade appears to be damage free and functions.

Some recent work/replacements include BF Goodrich Radial T/A’s all around with 99.9% life left, new rubber molding on mirrored T-Tops, front ball joints, tie rods, brakes and brake lines, calipers and a new battery just six months ago. New platinum spark plugs and a new fuel pump recently. Comes with new unused hoses, belts, rear parking brake pads to name some of the extra parts in case they are ever needed.

WHAT MAKES A CLASSIC A COLLECTIBLE AMONG COLLECTORS? IT’S REALLY VERY SIMPLE. IF THE CAR IS THE “FIRST” OF,OR A “LAST” OF, IT’S A MUST HAVE.

THE 1979 CORVETTEWAS THE LAST YEAR OF PRODUCTION FOR THE ICONIC COMBINATION OF THE L82 WITH A 4 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION .

Note: I rescued this gem from a garage where it has been stored for the last four years with an occasional monthly outing provided by the surviving brother of two brothers that bought this car to revive and enjoy. When the oldest brother passed away the surviving brother lost the desire to see the project through. My knowledge of its history prior to that is limited. I took the challenge and added to the restoration and am now passing the torch to the next enthusiast.

The rarity of the 1979 CORVETTE 350 L82 4 SPEED demands that this project is seen through to the end. Don’t let this on get away . . .
