Description of 1970 De Tomaso Mangusta

Greetings from Carsanddogs1970. There have been some significant classics that surfaced this year and we feel this is one of them. This Mangusta had been hidden away in a local garage for decades. The air in the tires is more than 30 years old. When we retrieved the goose, it had been partially disassembled and hadn't run in 25 years. The air conditioning and smog equipment had been removed. The brackets that affix those units to the bell housing have been removed as well. The pieces to the brackets are here and documented in the photo gallery. The Mangustas' original manifold with Alejandros stampings is also in the parts lot. There is an additional photo gallery with 150 pics here: https://carsanddogs1970.zenfolio.com/1970mangusta. We have completed our process to resuscitate the engine and it runs well. The car can be started in gear and moved, however the gears cannot be switched at the time this advert was posted. The fuel tank has been cleaned out and the carb rebuilt. The car has had a mild tune-up and oil change before it came back to life. It will need diligent mechanical work to be road worthy again.
At some point the car sustained front damage from a low speed collision. There is a dent on the front left as well as the bonnet and underside. The clamshell support rod on the passenger side is no longer fastened to the hinge and has damaged the area directly above it on the body. There is also a quarter sized ding on the rear passenger wheel arch. The car does not have significant rust, however the passenger side door has repairable corrosion on the inside lower section. Apparently water could be trapped there with no escape. This Mangusta has not spent a single night outside in the last 30 years. The vehicle is missing the spare tire, tool kit, e-brake handle and front bonnet floor. Also the AC drive shaft has gone missing. The car appears to have been yellow before a color change to red. Ironically at some point the previous owner ran thru some yellow crosswalk paint which is very stubborn to remove. The wheels and center caps have also received some custom work to suit the previous owners taste. The goose has been inspected by the owner of Fantasy Junction who estimated 100k would get it back to top form. We hope this blue chip classic will find its way to an owner that would enjoy it and keep it. The vehicle is in fair shape and is not too complicated to repair. Please direct your inquiries our way and I'm sure you will find us to be accommodating. Happy Motoring!
