Description of 1936 Ford Other Pickups

Original 1936 Ford pickup in rough but restorable shape. mostly complete except missing engine. transmission. seat. and gas tank. It has a clear Washington state title. I've owned this truck for 20 years and never done anything with it. I bought it north of Spokane. WA; it originally came from Idaho. It still has the remains of an Idaho WW2 gas rationing sticker on the windshield. I got this truck mostly disassembled and hung it back together. but the cab is not bolted down and the front sheet metal has just a few bolts. I had plans to restore it. but as often happens. it turns out I have too many projects. This truck is ready to restore or rod: great starting platform for whatever project you have in mind. OK. upside: Mostly complete. Good glass in the windshield and rear window. The hood and hood hinge are darn good. No rust in the cab rear corners. which is unusual. Pickup bed is pretty good. and the tailgate is very good ( a few dents and four small holes from reflectors). including hinge and correct chains and hooks. Both original hardwood bed rear spacer blocks are included. as is the cab-to-chassis spacer wood. Four stock wheels and hubcaps. Has all gauges. glove box door. dash header. windshield winder. inside rearview mirror. all interior cab trim including wiper motor cover plates. window winders. choke and throttle knobs and shafts. throttle spoon and linkage. toe board (slightly cut). steering column (broken column drop). pedals. engine anti-rattle rods. two good headlight buckets (no lenses. bezels. or reflectors). and good spare tire bracket. The doors are good and solid; driver's has one dent. passenger has 10 small holes from mirror brackets. The cab has dual wipers. which was an original accessory. Includes front bumper brackets (not complete set) and license plate bracket. Includes emergency brake lever. but the push-button is missing. Includes all four shock absorbers (rough). but the no arms for the rear ones. The windshield frame is solid and nice and the cowl vent is complete. The front wheels have later. rear hydraulic brake backing plates with no shoes installed just to roll the truck around; the rear axle still has 1936 mechanical brakes. Included are two front hydraulic backing plates with shoes. so there's enough here to convert this truck to hydraulic. except provision for the master cylinder. but you can buy a kit for that these days. Downside: No engine. transmission. gas tank. transmission cover. seats. bumpers. grill trim. hood side emblems. headlight stands. tail light. horn. horn button. steering wheel. or mechanical brake rods. The radiator fill spout is somewhat mangled. but otherwise the radiator is good; no radiator strut rods. The frame rails have been cut off behind the large rear cross member. but I've included patch pieces for the rails (no final cross member). No door glass; no door latch mechanism for passenger side; no outside door handles. Fenders. running boards. and grill are rough but fixable. The pickup box has stake holes crudely cut in the middle of both flare boards and rusted-out front stake pockets (these are reproduced). The bed floor is mostly intact but there is rust in both front corners. The bed floor still has the original gas tank sending unit cover plate and all the ash hardwood underneath the steel deck. The panels between the box and running boards are badly rusted. but these too are reproduced. The cowl has been cut for a heater and a battery box transplant that was never finished: simple to repair. Cab floor in front by kick panels is rusted through. as are both door sills (reproduced). Both windshield posts are drilled for spotlights. The rear axle is only loosely attached to the frame via the wrong spring bolts; not secure. The front spindles are connected by a temporary wooden beam: the tie rod and drag link are included but are not installed. nor is the steering column (this is how I got it). The seat riser is not attached to the cab floor and its center brace needs repair. The seat braces up the back of the cab are rusted off at the bottom. This truck has the usual problems from a hard life in a rural area. but no one has modified it and it's largely complete. I'd like someone to get it and do something with it because I no longer have the interest. One of the best-looking trucks Ford ever produced. and not many originals still out there. Transport is the buyer's responsibility. but I have plenty of room to load it and will help. Ask any questions before bidding. Bid with confidence. and good luck!
