Description of 1931 Other Makes

This 1931 Stutz Model MB features convertible sedan bodywork by LeBaron and was previously owned by former Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance judge Stephen P. Dean, who is said to have refurbished the car.
It was displayed at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance as part of the featured Stutz centennial before it was acquired by us in 2021. The car is finished in orange with brown fenders over orange leather upholstery, and power comes from a 322ci straight-eight paired with a three-speed manual transmission.
Equipment includes a brown soft top with chrome landau bars, dual side-mount spare wheels, running boards, rear-hinged front doors, a chrome radiator surround with a Ra hood ornament, and an electric fuel pump. Brake work is recommended by the selling dealer. This Stutz is now offered in Houston, Texas, with an external rear trunk, spare parts, factory literature, period photos, and a clean California title.
The LeBaron-built bodywork was previously finished in dark green and underwent a color change to light tan before it was painted in its current orange with brown fenders under previous ownership. Equipment includes polished bumpers, dual brake lights, running boards, rear-hinged front doors, a polished radiator surround, and a Stutz hood ornament depicting Ra, the ancient Egyptian god of the sun. An external rear trunk is included in the sale. The driver’s door handle is missing screws, and a crack in the driver’s door glass can be seen in the gallery below.
The cabin features front and rear bench seats trimmed in orange leather as well as brown carpets. Equipment includes a wood dash panel with a glovebox, dual rear-view mirrors, and an orange and white shift knob.
The three-spoke steering wheel fronts an engine-turned dash panel housing a barrel-type speedometer, a Waltham clock, an ammeter, and gauges for fuel level, water temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 73k miles. Total mileage is unknown.
The 322ci straight-eight features a single Zenith updraft carburetor and was factory rated at 115 horsepower, which is sent to the rear wheels via a three-speed manual transmission. An electric fuel pump was fitted under previous ownership.
