1947 Packard

In 1947, Packard was still known as the ultra-luxury car builder of the day. Yes, for many people, there was more prestige to owning a Packard then to a Cadillac, Lincoln or Chrysler. In 1947, Packard Clipper 8 Series, 7-Passenger Touring Car with the factory 356 L-Head 8-cylinder engine was an incredible piece of luxury. With its long wheel base, the room in this car especially in the rear seat area was just unbelievable…kind of like a small living room. We believe here at MissChiTown that these cars were a custom body build by the Henley body company and the seven passenger limousines are some of the rarest post war Packards. Also when we mention the long wheel base we are talking about 148 inch wheel base which is the same as the Duesenberg wheel base. These Packards are among the last recognized classic Packards by the Classic Car Club of America.

These cars are always a worthwhile addition to any serious collection or make a wonderful and fantastic tour car for the family because of the tons of room in the backseat for the kids and pets. Luxury in 1947, as luxury today, cost money and the 1947 Packard 7-Passenger was considered one of the most expensive domestic cars of the day.

Now to the facts on the 1947 Packard 7-Passenger in this auction. The owners have had this car for about seven years and the owners believe the 47,000 miles on the odometer are correct. The seller tells us that there is no major rust out. The interior was done 20 years ago. The paint was done 15-20 years ago. The car has a 3-speed manual on the column with overdrive (with overdrive this car should be considered a high-speed touring car). The windows roll up and down nice. The glass is in good condition. The owners believe that the radio is working but frankly he said he has never turned it on to find out. While the engine runs just fine, the engine compartment could use some detailing. The owner has a valid title in his name with no liens or encumbrances and it is ready to be signed over to the new care taker.

Don't miss the gorgeous Art Deco dash board and elegant styling of the interior. You can certainly travel in style to your next wedding or black tie event.

In closing we can only suggest that the 1947 Packard is a super good looking car and the 7-passenger limousine offers various ways that that configuration can be used. As we mentioned previously, it is great for a family that wants plenty of room or for weddings to take a large group around utilizing the jump seats or if you just want to impress everybody at a serious car show for those that have never seen one of these stretched factory long wheel base limousines. The reserve is very low (please do not ask). We recommend that you check out the pictures to visualize the actual condition of the car.

If you have questions call 847-774-4857 between 10:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. CST as we will be traveling to car shows with very limited access to computers to check email.
