Description of 1939 Plymouth DELUXE

Up for auction is this ultra rare 1939 Plymouth Deluxe rumble seat convertible.I believe that there was less then 800 of them made. It belongs to a good friend of mine who asked me to list it for him. He has so many other projects in front of this car that he is not going to have the time to do what he wanted to. So he is offering it up for sale. He purchased this car aprox 16 years ago . The car was originally from Massachusetts and belonged to a college professor. It was sold to one of his students in the early 70's . Was used for a short time then put in storage until he moved to Vermont. A short time after that my friend purchased the car. His intention was to do the body work and paint and install an early hemi running gear . He put the car in storage and that is where it has sat until now. The main body of the car is in solid shape. Frame is good and solid also. Most of the rust issues are in the rear floor area under the spare tire and shelf. Also the rumble seat floor has been tinned in. There is a rusty area on the passenger side rocker panel. There is some slight damage on the back tail area. Where the fenders bolt on is good and solid, oors are good and soli, rumble seat lid nice and solid front end sheet metal is solid and the tubs in the rear rumble seat area are solid. So you have something decent to work with. The top(which is power by the way) is in the down position . The material is torn but the bows and header are all complete. He also has the convertible rear window. The interior was originally red leather and needs complete redoing. He has the rumble seat cushions also. All glass is good with the exception of the passenger side front windshield section which is cracked. Car even has the rare wing windows. The car still retains it's original flat head six cyl 3 spd. I would assume it is stuck from sitting. A great vintage piece to restore orexcellenthot rod or custom project. He still has the hemi motor that he was going to use . Ibelievethat it is a 57 or 58 354 with 13000 original miles and runs like a clock it can be purchased for extra. Also have a 53 (331) Chrysler motor and trans and rear end still in the car but has been sitting for a while available also. If you need a title in your state we will register the car and with that and our proper dealer paper work you will receive a title. $150 extra should you need this service. $ 500 dollar non refundable deposit at end of sale and balance to be paid within 3 days.
