Description of 1973 Plymouth 340 Duster

A good Mopar is always the best muscle car for the money. The rare production numbers and unique touches always make them a hit today. It gets even better on a 1973 Plymouth Duster that has been given some nice investments along the way but still retains its numbers-matching 340 V8.

The Duster had one of the most aggressive A-body designs, and the factory-correct Rallye Red paint just highlights all the angles nicely. And just to make sure you don't miss those curves, the full-length factory stripe package will help guide you across the "kicked-up" rear fenders. That streak of black coordinates with other dark and sporty details, like the full-width rear spoiler and twin scoops on display on the hood. Those callouts on the rear fender are correct; this is the top-of-the line Duster package with the big motor for the little car. So it earns its full muscle car appearance with the big chrome bumpers, hood pins, and Rallye wheels. And while you'll love the performance appearance, as you get closer, the body condition proves there was extra care over the years that keep this coupe well preserved.

All the black accessories of the exterior get you ready for the full black interior. It comes with the right mix of factory equipment and some nice upgrades. Sit down in the high-back vinyl bucket, and you'll see the classic Mopar Tuff sports steering wheel. Beyond that, the original style dashboard offers a large array of gauges that's complemented by a large SunPro tachometer. The heater/defrost controls on the dash look just the same as they did from when this car left Detroit over four decades ago, but below that is a modern AM/FM/CD stereo w/USB input. Still, we bet your eyes were fixated on something even lower. This Duster borrows the center console from its bigger Barracuda brother, and it includes nice custom touches like the cup holders. Plus, the B&M shifter gives you a firm grip on the gears.

The biggest bang for the buck was stuffing a hardy 340 cubic-inch V8 into a lightweight car like the Duster. This car still packs its original, numbers-matching powerplant. It was fully rebuilt in 2013, and this connects to the numbers-matching 727 TorqueFlite three-speed automatic that was also rebuilt. Plus, there's a newer electronic ignition, wires, and coil. The well-kept package has a nice old school style to it thanks to the Mopar blue block and Hemi orange air topper with callouts. This hardy V8 makes a nice rumble out of the stainless steel dual exhaust. Also out back is an 8.75-inch rear with 3.91 gears on a Sure-Grip limited slip diff. Add in power front disc brakes and BF Goodrich T/As at all four corners, and this is a retro-cool package that still feels great on the road today.

The sale come complete with a host of extra components, including valuable center consoles. This total package is an awesome Mopar for show and go that you don't want to let slip away. Call today!!!
