The race was won by Richard Petty, is 7th and last Daytona 500 win. In likeness, he 1981 Trans Am marked the end of the 2nd Generation Fbody and the short 2 year run of the turbo charged Pontiac 301 engine. Striking red & black two-tone cloth Recaro bucket seats are part of the Y85 package. The 1981 Trans Am Pace car is equipped with GoodYear 225/ 70R15 Polysteel Radial tires mounted on white 15 X 7.5" turbo cast aluminum wheels. The Trans Am Pace Car is powered by the Pontiac turbo charged 4.9 Liter 301 Cubic Inches engine and is the first Trans Am to embody Recaro seating.
