The previous owner of this car was from Lima, H and he actually drove the car down to us, hich is about 120 miles away. The car performed flawlessly for him and I wouldn't hesitate to hop in and take a road trip in the car right now. Please peruse all of the photos, ideo, nd information below to get a true sense of how nice and clean this Trans Am really is.

Please note that this Trans Am is "numbers matching." In terms of value this is a very important factor and will become more vital in the years to come as the car gets older. Most importantly the engine is original to the car. The last six digits of the VIN, 37767, re stamped on the engine block and pictured below indicating that this is the original engine that was installed in the car brand new at the factory. The full stamping is "29N137767" and "2" indicates the Pontiac division of GM, he "9" is the model year, 979, nd the "N" is the plant where the car was produced, orwood, H. The transmission is also numbers matching with the last 6 digits of the VIN stamped on the main case and pictured below. This Trans Am rolled off the assemble line during the second week of January, 979 (01B).

As a side note, his Trans Am is not a dealer auction vehicle. We hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our classics come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the Pontiac, ust give us a call.

model description

A new styling treatment to the front end was the most striking change for the 1979 Trans Am, aying back the nose at a 22-degree angle from the "Batmobile's" 16-degree angle for better aerodynamics. The Trans Am became a "bottom breather", icking up some fresh air for cooling at the bumper grilles, he remaining amount from underneath the front bumper. The traditional grille between the headlamps was gone, eplaced by a pair mounted in the bumper pad extensions. The grilles were in a matte black and contained the turn signal/park lamp lenses in the upper outer corners. The now common four rectangular headlamps were each set in deep recesses, urrounded by low gloss bezels. The Pontiac crest continued to reside in the center of the front fascia.
In addition to the styling change, bright spot to the front end restyle was a deeper front spoiler, ow made of a flexible material rather than the hard plastic of the '77-78's. The change in material made it a bit more friendly to curb stones and parking lot dips. The spoiler actually was responsible for a major portion of the cooling air which was channeled to the radiator. Larger wheel air deflectors (or spats) were fitted, lending with the new spoiler.
The most drastic and best looking change to the rear had to be the tail lamp assemblies. The lamps now stretched corner to corner, ith a hinged fuel filler door in the center. While this may seem enough of a change, he big news was that the tail lamps had a "blacked out" look; at least until the lights were activated, hen the red was proudly broadcast. For 1979, his was major cool.

condition

Exterior

The Nocturne Blue exterior is in excellent condition. As one can see in the photos, he paint has a brilliant gloss, great shine, nd smooth finish. This Trans Am was treated to a professional repaint with all new correct decals applied. Often many Trans Am's will have particularly chipped up front ends, this car does not, oth bumpers are in excellent shape with no flaking or faded paint. The tires are virtually brand new and are sized 245/60/15. The OEM snowflake wheels look brand new with absolutely no curb rash and shine beautifully. The center caps and lug nuts are new as well. There are no major imperfections that have been intentionally excluded from the photos. There may be some very small blemishes that were too faint to show up in photos, ut nothing that is really noticeable from about five feet away. As one can seen in the many photos of the underside, his Trans Am is solid. We have also included specific photos of the spring perches, ower front and rear quarters, nd other areas on the car most prone to rust. The trunk is also totally solid and features a correct trunk mat.
This Trans Am has a stamping on the radiator core support, hich is pictured below. The core support shows a "12 11 78" stamp, r December 11, 978. This stamping would be correct and original as it precedes the car's build date of the first week of February, 1979 (01B). As one can imagine, f this Trans Am had ever sustained even a minor front end collision this part would have been repaired or replaced. The original stamping is great to see in tact.

The Trans Am looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Interior

The light blue cloth interior of the Trans Am looks very nice. The seat covers have been replaced and are in very good condition with no excessive wear, ips, r seam splits. The carpet has also been replaced and is great condition with no major stains, ips, or holes. An awesome stereo system was professionally installed in this Trans Am and sounds and works excellent. A Pioneer head unit with single CD was installed with new 6x9 Pioneer speakers installed in the rear deck and new 2 way Pioneer dash speakers mounted in the difficult to reach center dash factory position. The door panels look newer with no cracks or splits, nd both door pulls are solid and in tact. The headliner and package tray have also been replaced and are in great condition with no warping, ading or sun damage. New door sill plates were added along with a new condole lid and console box and new shifter plate. All of the interior plastics are in excellent shape with nice texture, ood finish, nd fastened in place. This car has not been smoked in; there are no burn marks and no aroma of cigarettes what so ever. Originally this TA came from the factory with a Camel Tan interior, hich is only slightly noticeable under very close scrutiny. Much effort and resources were taken by a previous owner to transform the entire interior to light blue.

The interior looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Mechanical

This Trans Am is in great mechanical condition. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, raking to a stoplight, nd going through some curves. Please note that it shifts well, uns great, here are no strange noises or vibrations, nd the car performs quite nice overall. The numbers matching 403 engine has been rebuilt and several upgrades have been added to increase performance. The 403 engine build features some very tasteful and expensive performance upgrades such as: 750 cfm Holley carb., delbrock performer intake, ertronix HEI distributor with new black Taylor 8mm wires, low Kooler water pump, uel pump, delbrock Performer-Link timing chain, ummit Hi capacity transmission pan, ummit Differential Support Cover, &M shift improver kit for transmission, et Hot ceramic coated headers, ed air fuel gauge oxygen sensor for fine tuning, tc. etc. A newer 2.5" Flowmaster American Thunder complete exhaust system from headers to splitter tail pipes was added to this Trans Am and sounds amazing at idle and all cruising speeds. This TA was treated to one of the best, ost highly desired, nd rarely seen upgrades, a functional ram air shaker flap. When you step on the gas pedal the shaker flap opens which allows the engine to breath fresh cool air. This is not only super cool to see but is very functional to the performance of the engine and the sound the engine makes with the gas pedal down is priceless. Also the body mounts and some bushings have been upgraded to Polyurethane. The costs and time to perform all these very refined upgrades would be staggering to reproduce, ut the results are so enjoyable while driving this incredible TA. This Trans Am is an exceptional driver that feels great on the road and at highway speeds. There is no smoke when starting or driving the car. It starts right away every time, dles well, nd runs excellent. The brakes do not pull to one side or the other and stop amazingly well due to the upgraded Power Stop drilled rotors, plus the brake system has been overhauled including some new brake lines. This TA was also treated to a complete new front end alignment and tracks wonderfully down the road. All interior and exterior lights work, s do the wipers, tereo, nd all of the gauges with the obvious exception of the clock; the blower motor and horn do not work. Parts of the AC system have been removed and the AC is not currently operational. The engine is clean and nicely detailed as one can see from the photos. Please view the portion of the video below of this car driving on the road and highway. This Trans Am has lots of power, andles well, nd is so much fun to drive. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car.

Overall Condition

Overall, his 1979 Trans Am is in excellent condition. It is a great value and we have it priced to sell. To find a Trans Am in this condition with these performance upgrades for our asking price is nearly impossible to do and is a smart and sound investment. This car turns heads and gets tons of attention wherever it goes. The value of these cars has gone up exponentially in recent years. They are all solid investments for a collector or the average enthusiast. Cars like this are the Barrett Jackson and Mecum stars of the future. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.

Thank you for looking and please do not hesitate to email or call with any questions.
