Description of 1968 Pontiac Firebird

Available for auction is this beautiful 1968 Firebird. Born as a Mayfair Maize Firebird 350 with a vinyl top. Now presented as adark redpearl Firebird 400 Tribute Car. I bought it in June from a friend who needed the money to buy a house. He thought he would have the money to buy it back. Unfortunately, is wife and kids want a pool and saving the money to buy it back did not come as easily as he originally thought. Not a 500 point show car, ather, well preserved. gorgeous driver with minimal wear and tear. Almost no defects in the paint. While the car was parked in front of my house with a For Sale sign, have had several people stop and say it is the most beautiful paint job they have ever seen. The floor pans and trunk pan are original and nice and solid. Always garaged since restoration.

I will start with all the recent new parts and work. The Engine and body have less than 400 miles since the build.

Evan's waterless Engine Coolant

What it needs if you choose:

No heat. High rise valve covers posed a clearance issue with the heater core inlet and outlet, o they were cut off by the previous owner. If you want to install a heater core, ou may need to put new valve covers on

The firewall was painted with shiny marine paint during the restoration. They did not spray it with semi-flat paint before installing the engine. I was going to try to spray it without removing the motor, ut never got around to it.

The wiper motor does not work and the wiper fluid pump and nozzles are missing. I didn't really worry about this because I would never drive this in the rain.

The cooling system's "happy place" is for the level when cold to be about 2 inches below the top surface of the radiator. The overflow canister that was installed by the previous owner is too small and does not return fluid back to the radiator, ut overflows itself. I would eventually replace with a larger overflow tank.

If you notice inthe lastpicture, here is a small paint defect from when the windshield molding was installed.

I have a Chilton's shop manual and original owner's manual. I also have the PHS report and an original build sheet from under the back seat.

The car is a great local cruiser just the way it is. I am a perfectionist, ence the detailed and thorough descriptions. Most of the interior is original and very presentable. The driver's bucket seams are starting to separate at the top as you can see in one of the photos. I encourage any serious bidders to schedule an inspection and test drive before the end of the auction. This Beautiful Bird is available for sale locally, o I reserve the right to end the auction early. I would consider partial trades for a numbers matching 50s or 60s classic (convertible preferably)if I have the opportunity to inspect it before the end of the auction. No reserve.

Mileage on odometer is around 95,550, ut ebay is giving me trouble entering the actual mileage.
