Description of 1955 Pontiac Chieftain 870

Daily driver...I've had this for 7 years and it's been reliable for me. It is pretty much the same as when I got it...It has the 287 V8 and Hydramatic transmission, both are strong.and it goes down the road nice. I put on new front wheel bearings a couple years back. The power steering pump has a slow leak in the line somewhere and will leak out over an extended period of time...The body was done by the previous owner and not much has shown up in the last 7 years. There are some bubbles (pictured) starting on the lower rear passenger door which I scraped to see the extent and it's not too deep. The lower rear door jambs were done patch style and have not show any deterioration in 7 yrs. One side was better to start with than the other, the worst one is pictured and it's just like the day I got it. The doors open and close smooth. I do have the paint cans that were used and will include them. The area below the tail gate needs work (picture) but overall the body is in really nice shape and the paint job is decent. The tailgate emblem and tail lights have pitting with the emblem the worst, but the bumpers show minor pitting and flaws. The gas tank filler tube is a hose but has a cap and works...The interior is nice considering it's age. I haven't taken off the front seat cover to see what's underneath but it feels solid when sitting in it. The rear seat has normal wear and fading on the top sides which can't be seen in the pics. You can see the back of it and the chrome strips in the back are in nice shape. It came with 2 plywood covers (pictured) that fit in the back and are included. The tailgate opens nice but the cable reels don't retract and have to be pushed in by hand. I have a new set of those as well as the cables, among a lot of other new parts that I will include for an extra $500. They totaled over $800 without shipping. I will list them at the bottom. The speedometer works but the red bar moves slow. Dash lights, headlights, tail lights and brake lights all work. Radio doesn't. Defroster and fan work, one floor vent is stuck. Gauges all work...Tires are decent, not one has gone flat in 7 years so they hold air well. It comes with 2 extra hubcaps. Glass is good but some fogging on some, should be able to see it in the pics...I added the fiberglass sun visor and the doohickey on the dash is a magnifier to see traffic lights when close to them...Here is a list of all the parts that I will include for an extra $500, most are from either Rock Auto or Ames Performance. All are new... Dome lens- Tailgate cable (2)- Tailgate cable reel (2)- Lower liftgate bumpers- Backup lens (2)- Backup lens gaskets (2)- Gas door bumpers- Outside round mirrors- Mirror visors (2)- Wheel bearings (3)- Door lock pillar bumpers (2)- 7 pc sound dampening material for floorboards- Air cleaner gasket- Front shock absorber (2)- Rear shock absorber- Stabilizer bar link (2)- Upper tailgate seal- Lower tailgate seal- Chrome star emblems (2)- Chrome door handle guards (4)- Oil filters (6)- Wiper blades (2)-...
