Description of 1965 Pontiac GTO Tempest

Starting with a southern 28,357 original mile car that was garage kept its entire life and was 100% rust free. The car was originally equipped with a 6 cylinder and powerglide transmission. The interior is still original,(except carpet)and is in amazing condition. You will not find many cars nicer than this one of any vintage or type. I ONLY upgraded the mechanicals on the car, the body and interior are still 100% original. The car has been painted because the paint was dead. All of the chrome, trim, stainless, rubber, felts around the windows, etc.... is still 100% original and in near perfect condition. I upgraded the mechanicals as follows: Low mileage LS2 / 4L60E from a 2006 GTO, I installed a new cam that is barely noticeable at idle and new valve springs. I put long tube headers on it and converted the LS2 to drive by cable instead of drive by wire because I wanted cruise control. I installed an Edelbrock 90mm throttle body that is DBW. I also installed a new Phoenix Transmission 3000 RPM converter that is a lockup. Ibought acustom builtaluminum radiator with transmission cooler and 16high performance SPAL fan. I also installed an auxiliary trans-cooler in addition to the radiatorcooler. The engineand transmission will not run hot even instop light traffic with the AC on. I installed a new Vintage AC system that operates with the original heatercontrols, so it looks very clean. The fuel tank from TANKS, hasan in-tank fuel pump that isvery quietoperation. You cannot hear it in the car. The car getsbetter than 20MPG.Then upgraded disc/drum brakes are all new on all 4 corners with newpower booster and master cylinder with proportioning valve. I also upgraded the originalbig10 bolt rearend with a 3:73 gear set and Auburn Posi unit. When I installed the rear end, I put new boxed control arms with poly bushings, rear sway bar and Veri-Shock shocks. (very good shocks) Up front, I installed a new CPP 14:1 power steering box and 1 1/4" sway bar with the Veri-Shock shocks. The front and rear has new lowering springs to give it that perfect stance. This car still rides nice and smooth like it did originally, but the car handles very well with almost no body roll, unlike originally. I installed a complete 2 1/2" mandrel bent exhaust system with Thrust chambered mufflers that sounds awesome, but not loud. When you are driving with the AC on and cruise set, you can barely hear it. I pulled the entire interior and sound deadened the car from windows down. This car is very solid and quiet when driving it. I also installed a new tiltsteering columnbut I wanted it to look original, so Ire-installedthe original steering wheel and had them painted together so that it looks perfect together. I also upgraded allof the gauges with the analog Dakota Digital instruments so that everything hooked up the LS2 engine perfectly. But Ichoose the black with white letters so that it almost looks factory. As you can see, I wanted it to look like a 1965, but perform like a 2016. This car will not disappoint. I have put about 3000trouble free miles on the car since it was completed. My wife and I took the car on the Hot Rod Power Tour this year for 4 days. I took some tools with me just in case, but never had to touch the car. It does not leak a drop anywhere and is as clean underneath as it is on the topside. I can take as many pictures as desired and I have a car lift, so I can take pictures of the bottom as well if desired. Call me ifyou have any questions. The only reason that I am selling the car is because, I have started another project. I build about one per year as a hobby. Gregg 318-five33-five76two.

I reserve the right to end the auction early as the car is for sale locally.
