Description of 1965 Pontiac GTO tri power 4 speed

This GTO was originally 389 tri power 4 speed and has been restored with upgrades focused on driving it back in the 90s by a meticulous and talented Pontiac enthusiast with no expense spared. Its been in California and I have history of the car since the mid 1970s. Great driving car with power steering you can park with one-finger ease. Starts easy and idles well even when cold. Professionally rebuilt and upgraded Engine is very tight and STRONG with no leaks. Power disc brakes in front are smooth and this car stops very well. Steering and sway bars are also upgraded with no play in steering and no body roll around curves with no squeaks or rattles. Engine sounds mild at idle and runs very smooth and tame on its center 2 barrel carb until you open the other two carbs after half throttle and you quickly realize this is an absolute BEAST! The close ratio 4-speed transmission and oversize clutch work beautifully with positive shift linkage that has no slop and no noises or difficulty. Its an absolute pleasure to drive. The exhaust is pleasantly quiet at idle and light throttle yet breathes very well through headers and mufflers that flow exceptionally well. The wheels look original but they are 15" and it now has an electric fan to reduce parasitic power loss. Chevelle 12 bolt Positraction rear end is stronger and narrower than the original Pontiac axle giving it room for more rear tire. The Engine is the original 389 block with multiple subtle upgrades to the lower end including balance and blueprint by Morgans Speed shop in Walnut Creek Ca. along with Ram Air heads, 9 qt oil pan, upgraded oiling and built to stay together . Less than 2 thousand miles since full frame off build. This car will DEVOUR a stock 389 tri-power GTO. The entire frame was painted steel grey while it was apart and has coil over shocks in the rear and the frame was strengthened with added braces prior to paint and assembly. It was in storage nearly 30 years in the same location after build and has a clean current California Title with no liens of any kind.
