Description of 1962 Pontiac Grand Prix

A true premium range-topping full-sized coupe, this 1962 Pontiac Grand Prix is the car that launched the legend. So when you can get a hardtop in a terrific color combo, great classic features and big upgrade to a tri-power V8, then you know this is one special classic.
Pontiac really understood how to bring performance and luxury in equal measures. They decided to really showcase this in '62 with the introduction of the Grand Prix. The Wide Track look was really taking effect with the quad headlights, broad split grille, and taillights that were pushed all the way to the corners. And with all this sheetmetal, we love the upgrade to a professional application of a sophisticated deep blue that also has a nice metallic radiance. Not only does it look great on its own, but also it provides a cool contrast to bring even more attention to the white hardtop roofline. The details are premium, too, with well-integrated chrome bumpers, stylish badging, and Pontiac's distinct 8-lug wheels really help make this a true boulevard king.
Inside is more of the merging of sporty and premium. You see this best on the seats. The bright white looks to be part of a fresher investment, and there's blue carpeting and a blue dash to really give you a similar color theme as the exterior. Not only do you get bucket seats up front, but the premium texture style was exclusive to the Grand Prix. And it's all done in a supple leather! There's plenty of room in the back to carry family and friends, and they even have a fold-down armrest when they want individual comfort. The curved windshield, ultra-wide dash, and stylish center console give this a feeling of expansive luxury. Plus, everything from the AM radio to the center-mounted tachometer are working in this well-maintained interior. There are even some terrific upgrades that have been well integrated. For example, this has a factory-style air conditioning setup that's running on modern R134a refrigerant (it will need servicing to function again.) There are AutoMeter Sport-Comp auxiliary gauges added to the dash to give you the full picture of what's going on under the hood.
To live up to the Grand in the Grand Prix's name, Pontiac gave these their best V8s. The top-dog was the 421 cubic-inch unit. This one goes one step further than factory ever did in the inaugural year, and now it also has Pontiac's famous triple set of dual barrel carbs. And every Pontiac fan know the three little polished air grabbers on top of a big V8 mean Tri-Power. This engine bay has been treated with proper care, and so you have the right classic pieces, right down to the fender-mounted glass washer refill bottle. But upgrades like the Pontiac cast valve covers and the Griffin aluminum radiator also tell you the investment was about keeping this a great cruiser, too. Then you add in great features like the three-speed automatic transmission, power brakes, power steering, and a supple ride. It's this fast moving and luxury cruising attitude that makes the coupe so desirable.
We have notes on this car that say this was given a complete frame-up restoration in 2010, and there's a terrific quality over every inch to back up this feeling of a solid investment. It all means this is your chance to get a prime example of the first-ever Grand Prix. Call now!
