By 1986, anctions on Porsche were lifted and the famed 930/Turbos started to flow back into the United States. For the last 4-years of the 930, hese models were virtually identical. The 1989 came with the 5-speed and the 1986 had the last of the sealed beam U.S. headlights. Other than that, here really was no major difference. Unfortunately, ur market had a strong desire for red, hite, nd black. There are rumors that over 90% of the cars shipped here were one of those three colors. 30-years later, e crave almost any color but those three.

This example was produced on November 27th, 985 and was ordered from the factory with the following options:

California Emissions

Blaupunkt Monterey Radio

Alarm System

Electric Sliding Roof

Dunlop Tires

This Porsche was originally sold as a tourist delivery Porsche to a local Orange County, alifornia resident. He took final delivery at a Los Angeles Porsche dealership on January 7th, 986. It spent the next 20-years in the dry southwest. In 2008, t went into a collection in South Carolina where it mostly sat for 7-years and was driven less than 1,000 miles. This owner was a large Porsche collector and serviced his cars at the local Porsche dealer. Although he didn’t drive it much (his health was failing and he passed away in 2014), e was fastidious with his service and invested nearly $19,000 in the following services:

Several oil services

Brake flush

New alternator

New front brakes

Top end engine rebuild/reseal

Replaced wiper motor and window motors

Transmission service

The current owner purchased the car in 2014 shortly after all these services and then had it shipped to his home in Oregon.

Although the car was in immaculate condition (thanks to the low miles) and just had extensive work at the Porsche dealer, his owner really wanted things a level higher. For the next several months, ne of the top local Porsche specialists went through everything. Over $15,000 was invested in checking the motor inside and out and resealing everything. Highlights from these repairs include:

Remove engine and transmission

Replace left rear wheel bearing

Replace o-rings and seals for turbocharger pipes

New clutch kit, lutch cable, nd resurface flywheel

Brake fluid flush

New engine sound pad

Disassemble engine

Recondition camshafts and rockers

Check cylinder head studs and torque

Reseal cam housings

Replace oil return tubes and chain rails

Install rocker shaft seals

Adjust valve clearance

Replace intake manifold flange blocks

New distributor cap, otor, ires, park plugs, nd vacuum lines

Reseal oil thermostat

Clean and test fuel injectors

Replace Carrera oil line tensioners

Flush transaxle oil

Replace turbo waste gate and test/inspect turbo system

Check A/C system for correct operation and convert to R134

Clear bra installed

Based on the condition, t is clear that this Turbo was always garaged and never abused. Recently, he current owner had the front bumper repainted to eliminate some rock chips. The front of the car had also been repainted not too long ago. The rest of the paint looks excellent. There are minimal signs of use/wear. The tires have nearly full tread. The Fuchs look great and are brand new Euromeister alloy reproductions. They are the correct size and finish. All the glass is original and in great shape.

The interior is equally nice and very original/unrestored. The leather seats have no tears and

minor wear on the driver side exit bolsters. The door panels and pockets are very clean with no major warping. The dash is free of cracks and warping. The carpet also looks fresh. Everything seems to work properly. The A/C has just been recharged. The only item non-stock is the radio.

This turbo is a wonderful driving Porsche. Whether you want to do a long freeway road trip or some twisty back roads, t is tight with responsive handling and great power range. The brakes are incredible. Everything feels very solid and typical of a low-mile example.

This 930 is currently registered in Oregon with valid plates until April 2017. It also recently passed the Oregon emissions test.

This Porsche comes with the original owners manuals, ack, pace saver spare, ool kit, ire compressor, nd COA.
