Description of 1986 Porsche 928 1986

Firstly, et me thank you for taking the time to look at my auction. I know there are a fair number of Porsche 928s to look at and choose from. Some may actually be nicer than this one, ut the price won't be as competitive. This vehicle has no excuses as it is a extremely nice used car both mechanically and cosmetically. It was purchased about a years ago with the intent to drive, ut it too nice of a car to get door dings running errands and to have the interior cooked while sitting in a parking lot. I did all the maintenance it needed and just occasionally drove it around the block and started it up to warm it up and keep it operating well. It has several clear title searches including but not limited to CARFAX. It has never been wrecked but I repainted the front bumper cover due to a nick from an SUV backing into it and damaging the paint. It is rare to see good condition original paint on so much of this car. Survivors are rare. It is very nice and can drive home to anywhere. I put about $6000 in retail service into the car since the gentleman who sold it to me didn't wnat to spend money on repairs for a car he was going to sell. I have a clear title in hand.

If you want further pictures of have further questions, lease send me an email through ebay or give me a call or text me at 801-699-6542. Please don't waste my time as I dont have patience for time wasters, reamers or lookie-loos. The main reason I am selling many of my cars is I quite simply don't have the time or energy I used to have while keeping up with my kids who are all growing up. I just don't have the time any longer.. Feel free to send me any serious questions that you may have, owever. Thank you for looking. It is an excellent condition car and is sold as is where is, ut it is solid mechanically and very nice cosmetically and will get you to where you want to go with serious speed.

The Good:

Standard Equipment Includes:

Porsche 5.0L 32 Valve all aluminum V8 engine with 288 hp and 300 lbsft of torque Four Wheel Disc Brakes 16" Factory Forge Alloy Wheels with BFG tires AM/FM CD player stereo with eight speakers

The engine runs very strong and has fresh semi synthetic engine oil and new filter installed. The transmission shifts nicely and has fresh synthetic fluid. I replaced complete clutch unit with an all new clutch kit and a resurfaced wheel and a new rear main seal with new flywheel bolts and clutch cover bolts. In installed a nice simple billet aluminum short shifter and new shifter front ball cup and new shifter rear connector. I also installed a new clutch release bearing with a new release arm and delrin cup The wheel bearings, xles, nd suspension system look and feel in good condition. I just replaced the torque tube driveshaft with a remanufactured unit. I replaced the brakes as well and I bled the brake and clutch fluid. It has a brand new water pump and timing belt with a rebuilt timing belt tensioner and all rollers. It also has new coolant and belts. It has new spark plugs air filter, uel filter etc. It also has a brand new chin spoiler and front grill is recently repalced. It has a recent battery. All the electrical gauges and interior electronics operate without problems. The catalytic converters appear to function very well since it had no problems passing emissions. We put a stainless steel performance X pipe on the car and kept the original cats for the lucky purchaser as well. I also recently did a compression and leak down test of the engine and here is what I found:

Cylinder #1 176psi with 2% Leakdown

Cylinder #2 177psi with 2.5% Leakdown

Cylinder #3 177psi with 2% Leakdown

Cylinder #4 175psi with 2.5% Leakdown

Cylinder #5 177psi with 2% Leakdown

Cylinder #6 175psi with 2% Leakdown

Cylinder #7 176psi with 2% Leakdown

Cylinder #8 177psi with 2.5% Leakdown

Aside from the excellent compression and leakdown numbers, hat really sets this 1986 928S apart from many of the others you see is the fair price and solid mechanical condition and excellent clean and original cosmetic condition.

The Bad:

I just don't have the time to drive it like it should be driven. This may be the most capable GT out of the box ever made and it doesn't deserve to sit in the garage. The car needs to be driven by a person that will care for it and take it on vacation and other long drives. This car is a real survivor car with original paint and no signs of accidents.

Here is the copy of a recent PPI that a customer paid to have done for this car. He later was unable to arrange funding for the vehicle, ut intended to purchase the car. I cut a paste this from the oringal email to this listing, o the format and editing may have shifted. Sorry that it is hard to read.

Make: Porsche

Year: 1986

Model: 928S

Mileage: 106470

Body: Sports Car

Style: 2 Door Coupe with 4 seats

Color: Prussian Blue Metallic

The entire car appears original paint minus the front bumper cover. It is an average quality repaint with very little orange peel. It is amazing dent free. The paint has some very small chips and scuff, t has some small scratches and most would polish out with a good detail. It has some chips in the paint at the back of the passenger side quarter panel that are very hard to see with a camera.

Doors: Open and shut nicely. The interior door panels signs are excellent. The driver's door and passenger door panels, rm rests door panel as well are very nice.

Top: Paint looks good and the sunroof appears to fit nicely.

Wheels: The wheels are factory forged 16" alloy that are polished. They appear to be in good shape cosmetically and are unbent.

Alignment: Decent even tire wear with the fronts fairly worn, ear tires were replaced within the year or so. All tires are new.

Lights: All running lamps work. The turn signals work. The same is true of the hazard lights. Both stop lamps work. The headlamps low and high beams, riving lamps, nd back-up lamps appear to work nicely. The rear tail lights have small cracks in them.

Keys: Work well in the ignition and the door locks.

Windshield and washers:

The windscreen is in good order. It has one rock chip repair that we can detect. The wipers work well. Fluid washer works fine.

Side view mirrors:

Perfectly operational, ome scratches and chip repair on the driver's side mirror housing.

Interior: Navy Blue and Tan.

The front seats are in beautiful condition and all directional controls work fine. In general the interior is one of the nicest I have seen for this year of car. The rear deck lid has nice leather as well. The dash is in excellent condition and full leather with NO cracks or tears. The pod has one crack down the center.

Stereo: It sounds, ooks and works fine.

Hood and Deck lid shocks:The shocks work fine.

Windows/sunroof: Works fine

Windows: Both sides work fine.

Interior lights: All cabin lights work well.

Dash: Perfect leather dash. The pod has one crack in it.

Wiring: Seems to be original with no modifications.

Wiper blades: Work

Undercar: In very nice shape with no serious sign of bottoming out.

Air bags: None.

Engine: It runs well and doesn't appear to have any significant problems. No significant leaks and appears to operate in good working order. No visible or audible sign and problems. Timing belt appears recent and has no wear.

Exhaust: The exhaust is in nice working order, tock except for the installed high performance stainless steel crossover. The factory catalytic unit is with the car as well in a box.

Suspension and Drive Train:

The c.v. axles appeared to be in good shape with one torn boots, o excessive noise or excessive movement. There is no vibration while running. It feels tight.

Steering: All the front suspension components are in good condition.

Brakes: The rotors were in good shape, he pads are in good condition with approximately 100% life left on the front. The rear pads are at approximately 100%.

Wheel bearings: Front wheel bearings feel good.

Transmission: Shifts smoothly.

Air Conditioning: Everything associated with the A/C system appears to be fully functional.

Modifications: None.

The car is a good example of nice driving 1985 928S with its respected mileage. I would place the condition of this 928S in the top 15% mechanically of the available 928s from the vintage. And I would place the interior in the top 10% with the interior being clean and original and nicer than any other 928 I have seen with this mileage. I would place the paint in the top 20% of the same vintage car.

As with any inspection, e are not able to peer through metal or innately know about a problem that we cannot see. We do not make predictions or promises. This inspection is only intended to allow the customer to be better informed about the general condition of the cars and to identify problems that were readily noticeable.
