Description for Porsche 914 1973

We were fortunate enough to find this amazing one owner Arizona to Florida 914 at a charity auction. The previous owner had passed away and donated it to the Salvation Army. The car had been sitting for a couple years but was in great shape overall, very solid, and very complete.Previously, owner had lived in Arizona, then moved to Florida where he spent his remaining days. The car was maintained by Eibell Performance in Clearwater FL. After contacting the Arizona DMV, they confirmed they only had record of the one owner.

As you already know, 1973 is the most desirable year for a four cylinder 914. It produces the most amount of power and comes with most of the options as standard equipment including Fuchs wheels, fog lights, shift knob, and center console with gauges. This one comes with some cool vintage touches like the antique PCA club and Arizona AAA stickers.

After taking possession of the car, we removed the engine and transmission. The engine was professionally rebuilt at our local air-cooled Porsche specialist, PartsCo. The previous owner had converted the car to a dual webber carb setup that was powerful but hard to tune and cold natured. The pros at PartsCo. switched that out for a more reliable and easier to drive single barrel setup. The dual Webber carb setup is included in the sale. The engine has approx. 500 miles on it since rebuild, starts beautifully, and runs wonderfully.Gottalove that sound! The motor runs within the proper temp ranges, even in Sunny Florida.

They also refreshed the transmission, changed the fluid, and gave it a clean bill of health. The transmission shifts as nicely as a 914 transmission can!

We cleaned and restored the sub-frame/engine bay and replaced the worn-out firewall insulation with a new modern one from Pelican Parts. We had a custom fabricated aluminum battery mount designed and built because the aftermarket ones weren't nice enough. The exhaust system was refinished and new battery installed. All of the grounds were cleaned and inspected. The CV axles were rebuilt by AAA Axle. The A/C system was restored, serviced and professionally converted to R-134a by Quality Automotive. New A/C lines werecustomfabricated for easier future service. The A/C system works beautifully and blows cold!

The front calipers were professionally rebuiltand the rear brakes have been inspected and given a clean bill of health. New brake fluidthroughout. The headlights, stereo, windshield wipers, gauges, fans etc. all work properly. I don't believe the windshield washer pump works but I can check on that.

Being a dry weather car its whole life the body, subframes, and unibody were in terrific shape when we got the car. The doors opened and closed perfectly, even the paint was in decent shape.

From what I've been told by experts there is no such thing as a "rust free" 914 but this one about as close you aregoing get without a megabuck rotisserie restoration or a welder!Even so we had the car professionally repainted at Beach Fender Mender. The car was originally "Sunflower Yellow", thepreviousowner had changed it to "Guards Red". Being a classic Porsche color, we kept it Guards Red.

The car tracks straight, turns crisply, brakesstraight, and shifts correctly. The car is shockingly solid with no rattles or shakes.

As you can see this car is not perfect, but it's an amazing place to start or just enjoy. It could be concurs car with a little more TLC or use it as an awesome driver and fun ride to take to PCA events. ONE THING IS FOR SURE, IT DRAWS A CROWD!

As acourtesybelow you will find about 300 pictures of the car before and after got it. I would recommend seeing what the cars you're bidding on looked like before they were "restored".
