Description of 1966 Fiberfab/Porsche G90

1964 Fiberfab Avenger GT/ Porsche powered. Designed and manufactured in the USA by Fiberfab, a company founded by Warren "Bud" Goodwin, starting in 1966. The car had a strong GT40 look. The car was styled to resemble the Ford GT of racing fame; however, it wasn't a Ford GT40 replica, instead was heavily influenced by the MkI and MkIII styling. They utilized quad headlamps and a longer tail similar to the MkIII to cover the rear engine. The Avenger GT came in two models, the Avenger GT-12, and the Avenger GT-15. The GT-12 (so named with respect to the first 12 GT40 prototypes) was designed to be assembled by the owner, using parts salvaged from other cars, usually a Karmman Ghia or early Porsche. The GT-15 was similar, but utilized a tube frame chassis, designed to accept suspension and drivetrain components for a Chevrolet Corvair. Thousands of Fiberfab Avengers were sold in the 1960s and 1970s. Rear glass is from a 65- 66 Ford Mustang 2+2 Fastback. The windshield is from a 1965-69 Corvair Monza or Corsa. Side windows are custom made. This version has the more desirable short door with rocker panel, along wind-wing vent window from a 65 Mustang. Rear taillights are 63 Corvette. Ebay defaulted the model to say "G90" But should be "GT"

This car was built in the 60's and has a Porsche 356 Engine, brakes, gauges, horns, wiring etc. The car does have a full steel tube frame, along with VW front suspension, steering box, and center hump containing shift linkage, etc. The wheels are custom made wide five steelies, date stamped from 1956, they were reversed and widened by 2.5". The car was last on the road in 1974, passing NJ state inspection! The car has a clear NJ title as a 1964 VW Delux. Unlike most kit cars that are never finished, or make it to the road, this car made at least one trip from NJ to Florida for the Sebring races! The car retains in original Firestone F-100 Tires. I had a pair of Plexiglas headlight covers made from proper Avenger molds. These have not been installed, but are show in picture with protective covering. True miles unknown. Prices for period built fiberglass specials with Porsche power are doing very well in the market.
