Description of 1987 Porsche 944

1987 Porsche 944 Turbo. Lots of recent work and maintenance. Bought this car 2 years ago as a project car and now in excellent condition and wouldn’t hesitate to drive it across the county. Car has been completely gone though and built for reliability with minor upgrades to improve reliability. Not a highly modified car, good quality example. Would be great solid candidate if you wanted to add power add-ons. Doesn’t leak a drop of oil. Soo many hours of work in the car, blood, sweat and some tears. Way too much to list every nut and bolt but here are some of the big things:

(I have a stack ofvariousreceipts. Everything listed below has been done in the last 2 years just since I’ve owned it)

  • Motor gone through completely and resealed, new bearings, rings, rebuilt head, wide fire head gasket, etc. Cylinders and head all in excellent condition, no scratches, have photosif requested
  • Cleaned and replaced cam lifters as needed, no typical 944 tick, very good shape (no soft lifters)
  • Factory oil cooler with additional Lindsey racing “KISS” oil cooler on D/S with all new Stainless hoses
  • Stock fuel injectors cleaned and flow matched
  • Turbo upgraded by Tims turbo, have receipt with details, slightly modified factory turbo and rebuilt
  • All new exhaust gaskets from front to rear on factory exhaust, no rust
  • All new timing belt, water pump, seals on everything from bottom up
  • All new cooling hoses, motor mounts, plugs & wires, rotor and rotor cap
  • AN Fuel line and fittings with temperature protective wrap, new fuel pump, fuel filter, tank cleaned
  • A/C system blows cold, rebuilt compressor, new dryer, all new seals and converted to 134a, no issues
  • New clutch & T/O bearing, hiem joints on transmission for shifter and new shift rod, very solid feel
  • New O-rings and seals on transmission
  • Newer Koni Yellow suspension all around, front have improved progressive rate springs,
  • All new sway bar bushings and mounts
  • Rebuilt power steering rack & pump, no leaks, looks like new, and complete alignment done after
  • SS braided brakes lines
  • New Starter
  • Linsey racing boost enhancer, Silicone vacuum lines
  • New Lindsey Racing clubsport wastegate
  • Lindsey racing Stage 1 intercooler
  • Rebuilt ECU w/warranty
  • New windshield
  • Completely whole car paint job, no scratches, 100%
  • New Kenwood head unit and infinity speakers, rear speakers are upgraded to 6” round speakers with Porsche adapter plates, sounds really good
  • New shift knob and boot made in Germany with light up shift pattern
  • Have a few boxes of spare parts if new owner wants to take with them for free.
  • I’m sure there’s more I missed and lots of small things done as well as you can see with the car.

The Bad:

  • Split in seam in driver’s seat(typical wear for the sport seats)
  • Typical cracked dash and center dash by hazard switch is cracked
  • Transmission - the 2-4 gear synco’s are going bad, still completely drivable though
  • Tires have plenty of tread but are getting old in age, rear brake pads are still good but getting low
  • Missing spare tire, only have some tools
  • Heater control valve sticks sometimes so just disconnected lever to keep it off for the summer
  • Previous owner cut speaker holes in rear carpet, have a second carpet set if new owner wants.
  • Needs new windshield washer pump and hose

Overall, very well restored car in great shape. Honestly, I have lost track of how much $ just in parts and time I have put into this car but it’s a very loved and done right car. It’s a blast to drive! Unfortunately priorities at the moment have changed, no free time to finish the small things and need to let this go to a new home.
