Ownership and history:
This vehicle was purchased new on November 24, 1976 at Chick Iverson- Newport Beach CA (Now Porsche Newport Beach). The original owner- owned this car for about 25 years in Southern California. From documentation I’ve put together that the car was then purchased by a gentleman in Florida around the early 2000s. I have a list of receipts and repairs from this person including a complete engine rebuild on August 7, 2007. 10 years later on February 7, 2018 I purchased the car from a consignment dealer in Florida on behalf of the second owner. I am the third owner of this car and it has been in my continuous ownership until present day in Southern California.
Paint:
When the car arrived from Florida, I saw that some of factory clear coat was peeling around the trim area and was covered in vinyl. At that time the decision was made to when to complete a full repaint of the car in its original vibrant color of Talbot Yellow.
This paint job was completed by LTMotorwerks of El-Monte California who has a wide recognition for overhauling and working on all types of high-end vehicles. All windows/parts/ doors were removed from the car for a proper repaint and all new rubber seals were purchased for the entire car.
Although not 100% perfect, overall the car and paint shows beautifully and receives compliments and photos anytime I take it out.
Motor:
Since this car was purchased through a consignment dealer- I didn’t have much communication with the previous owner but going off receipts and a picture of the engine that was left in the glovebox from 2002. I’m assuming the 2.7 was rebuilt during that time frame. I’ve had 0 issues with the motor; it starts, idles and runs healthy every time.
Transmission:
Transmission is fine and what you would expect from an older car. All gears shift up smoothly. Reverse is a little difficult to slide in, but once you drive the car a couple times you get the hang of it. All gears all shift up smoothly. All gears all shift down smoothly apart from 2nd to 1st while driving. If you come to a stop in 2nd and then put it to 1st, you won’t have any issues.
Wheels/Tires/Suspension:
The wheels on the car are its original 16in Fuch wheels. While the exterior paint job was being completed, I opted on a full professional restoration on the wheels. This was a multi-step process including stripping the original wheels of their old paint, repainting the black accents, and clear coating the entire wheel to preserve the re-conditioning for years to come. They look better than they would have from factory in 1977, and better than most brand new wheels look today. They are in perfect condition and can also fetch a pretty penny nowadays.
Tires are like-new Toyo R888s, these R compound tires make the entire driving experience so much better. They are super grippy and a big difference and upgrade from regular tires.
The suspension was upgraded to new Bilstein suspension all around, which makes the car handle amazing and makes cornering a blast.
Brakes:
This is something that I’d recommend addressing. The Brake Master Cylinder needs replacing. On the bright side it’s a $150 part. The car is still drivable and brakes fine, I would still recommend replacing the part.
Exterior:
In addition to the complete paint work listed above some upgrades were done including, TRE Motorsports RSR 3.0 Inspired front bumper, TRE Motorsports Rear Bumper, TRE Motorsports Ducktail Decklid, Vitaloni Sebring Mach Mirrors, Bosch Headlights and Custom-Made Outlaw Door Handles.
Interior:
The bulk of the interior work was completed by the Florida owner prior to me, he had the interior refinished in a tan/black combination with embroidered Porsche crests on the headrests.
During my ownership I began the process of transitioning the interior back to its original black color. I had the rear seats redone in black leather.
I also had the steering wheel upgraded to a MOMO Prototipo wheel which really compliments the interior and also adds some thickness to the wheel enhancing the driving experience.
Overall:
I’ve attempted to document every aspect of the car as detailed as possible.
The car shows beautifully and receives compliments and photos anytime I take it out. The car handles amazing, is super grippy and makes cornering a blast. I’d love to keep it for years to come, but I need to unfortunately move on to additional opportunities.
I hope the winning bidder enjoys this car as much as I did and drives it like it’s meant to be driven. If you have any additional questions, please reach out to me directly. Happy Bidding.
