It is a mix of extremely original body, undercarriage and drive train and survivor original interior. The car is almost a #1 car, but the interior would need to be redone to bring it to that sort of level. Personally the interior is wonderful like it is and I would never change it out myself, even if I was going to show the car. But, that is why I am calling it a #2+ and not a #1 condition vehicle. This is just the kind of exceptional driver that most people are looking for. I am helping a friend sell this car, he is extremely busy but is available if serious buyers want to discuss the car with him. This car is coming out of collection to make room for a 911 that he just purchased. I have been a long time PCA member and NCRS (Corvette) guy. My time working on and restoring automobiles for the last 40 years have served me well in the critique of other automobiles. I judge several venues of automobile classes as well as concour events here in Southern CA. I would rate this car as a solid #2+ condition Show/Driver. It is one of the most fun cars I had ever driven, tight and solid with wonderful driving characteristics. BODY & PAINT The body on this 914 is in excellent shape and is extremely straight at every angle. Take a look at the body gaps in the pictures and also in the video walk-around… they are crisp and they match all the way around the car. The doors, hood and trunk all shut perfectly. I can see no evidence of body filler in this car anywhere. The paint was applied when the car was restored roughly 14 years ago. There are pictures of the car being stripped, primered and apart in the pictures attached below this text. The paint color matches very near perfection all the way around the car. There are literally no dings or scraps or blemishes in the paint anywhere. The paint is flat and mirror-like and has a wonderful period correct finish to it. There is no overspray anywhere on the body. All seals and weather-striping was replaced during the restoration. This was a very high-end respray of a very solid bodied original car. I simply cannot convey how cool this paint looks. Unfortunately the day I took pictures the light was really changing on me, from sunny to overcast and started getting dark. The color changes drastically depending on the light. I would say the the 4th picture down (picture directly of the side of the car with front end to the left) below this text is the most accurate picture to the true color of the car. The 13th picture (taken from above looking down at the car) is the best representation in direct, full-on sunlight. INTERIOR The interior is in amazing original condition and shows some minor age obviously, although there is one small tear on the passenger side upper door upholstery and a small seat separation at the stitching on the left side driver seat bolster and a small blemish on that bolster (next to the dime in the photo). It is not a tear-through but a blemish. The dash and door panels, seats and carpet are all in great shape and are as nice as I have seen on a survivor car like this. The Targa Top is in excellent condition. The trunk area is exceptionally clean and original looking. On the survivor scale I would call the overall interior a 9+. It is extremely presentable and in my estimation should be left original. Note: The interior pictures like the exterior pictures seem to change colors depending on the lighting. Indoors it looks tan and outside it looks much lighter. To me it is somewhere in between. MECHANICAL Mechanically the car runs perfectly. It starts on the first turn of the key and idles and drives out beautifully. The engine and transmission were rebuilt around the same time the car was repainted and has less than 3000 miles on the rebuild. The car does not appear to use oil or smoke at all. It has plenty of power. The 5-speed transmission shifts extremely well with a newer updated aftermarket shifter. The front-end ball joints were redone along with CV joints, axles and new Bilstein shocks. The car drives straight down the road with your hands off the steering wheel at 80 mph. The brake rotors and pads were gone through and has new stainless steel brake-lines. There is also a new exhaust system fitted to the vehicle that adds a nice subtle exhaust note. UNDERCARRIAGE The undercarriage on this vehicle is extremely clean, the floor pans are all completely original with the factory undercoat still intact showcasing the life of a well cared for Porsche. I cannot see any evidence of rust anywhere on the undercarriage or rust repair. This is probably as nice an original unmolested 914 as i have ever personally been around or seen. It appears to have lived a life as a collector car. This is a wonderful low mileage survivor-type driver that is getting increasingly difficult to find. I would jump in this car and drive it across country without a second thought. The car comes with the original fuel injection wrapped in a box, along with various spare parts. Also a book with the COA, some original showroom literature and photos of the restoration. If you are looking for a solid, unmolested original style 914 to drive, show and enjoy, this may just be the car you have been looking for. This is a car you would be proud to show up with at any Porsche meet. I would encourage local Southern CA parties to come take a look at this wonderful specimen. Please call to make an appointment.
