Description of 1983 Renault LeCar

Excellent original deluxe Le Car with full canvas sunroof!

This Renault R5 Le Car is probably among the nicest original Le Cars in the US! I have owned and enjoyed this wonderful and fun Le Car for nearly eighteen years and driven it about 2500 miles during that time. This is a super-original survivor car, with original paint and full 'Le Car' decals, with no rust through or body work. The original paper-thin grey cloth upholstery has been tastefully replaced with a similar color grey cloth.
The Le Car runs and drives great, and is lots of fun to drive with its distinctive smooth ride and huge sunroof.
Over the time that I have owned the Renault, major services include new clutch and shift bushings; new water pump and radiator; new belts and hoses; new brake hoses, pads, and wheel cylinders; and new front wheel bearings. At this point, the only items that can use attention are the radio and heater blower (both had been working but both stopped; I believe that there may be a common fuse that needs to be replaced); and the back up lights are not coming on (maybe the same fuse?). One turn signal light bulb is out which I will try to address if possible before the auction ends.
The interior on the Le Car looks great, and the seats (and ride) are very comfortable, as expected in a French car! The gauges work, the carpets and dash are in good shape. The after market radio has a cassette deck and rear speakers installed on the rear package shelf. Door panels, armrests, and even the plastic door map pockets are all in good shape.
The exterior of the Le Car is in amazing original condition; it's not new, it has some small scratches and wear, and one very small hole in the canvas sunroof, but is probably one of the best original Le Cars that you will find. I installed NOS rubber door button grommets. I have always stored the Renault in a garage and have only driven it in good, dry weather.

Look at the photos and ask me any questions! The Renault is offered as is, where is; transport is up to the buyer. A bid is a contract to purchase the Le Car, so please ask any questions. A $500 deposit is due within 24 hours of auction end, and the full amount is due within seven days by cash or bank check. The car is available when funds have cleared; I have clear title in my name. I can store the Le Car indoors for a reasonable time of up to two weeks, potentially more if required for transport arrangements and if agreed to in advance with the buyer. Any potential overseas buyers or buyers with less than 10 positive feedback must contact me before bidding. The Le Car is available for sale locally and the auction may be ended at any time.
