| SHOBRA. A new twist on everybody's favorite roadster. the Cobra. This magnificent example features the world famous Taurus SHO engine featuring a 24 valve v6 engine producing 220 hp. In the 4 door sedan. it could reach 60 mph in 6. 7 seconds and it's top speed was a hair straightening 143 mph. This powertrain made the Taurus SHO the world's most powerful front drive car. So. with that said. imagine all that engine stuffed into a fiberglass 2 seat roadster set up with the T-5 five speed transmission and REAR wheel drive. Add the headers and side pipes and this one should top out at about 230 hp. This 1989 SHO engine is new except for the 800 miles put on since the build. and all that is connected to a Ford 390 nine inch positraction rear end. The SHO averaged 24 to 26 mpg. and this lighter roadster should average even more. Painted a gorgeous imron pearl black metallic. showing off a beautiful red and black interior that even features the SHOBRA logo on the horn button. this beauty has all the necessary gauges. lights. and wipers. but does not come with heat or air conditioning because it is never outside in the cold and why would you have a top on a roadster & need a/c anyway? The aluminized side pipes and $2. 00 set of Shelby wheels and like new tires really add the finishing touch to this one of a kind version of the sought after Cobra. SHOBRA. a name as unique and classy as the car itself. I am assisting the owner in the sale of this great classic. and upon close inspection was not able to notice any area that has any flaws. This car appears to be built right during the 8 year build process. & seems to run and drive well. Mr. big old 429. As with any engine. horsepower can be increased resulting in higher top speed and 0 to 60. but this research compared stock Boss 429 and SHO engines both of the same year. |
