Description of 1967 Rolls-Royce Corniche - 2 door Fixed Head Coupe

Rolls-Royce

Silver Shadow
"FHC"

("Fixed Head Coupe")

(Corniche)

1967

** Project Car requiring restoration! **

This is one of the earlyproductionleft-hand drive Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow coupes (like a Corniche). It was aSwiss delivery car. An interesting background, t was actually featured at the 1967 Motor Show in Brussels and then subsequently sold by Garage de l'Athenee SA, enevas. A nice bit of history there!

This was a customer of Park-Ward Motors ("PWM") who had commenced restoring it himself with help from us. Onlycosmetic work was commenced before the car copped a nice hit in the left side. The side damage was insurance quoted at $5,000. It is quite repairable, ut the owner became disheartened, ost interest in the project and now it is offered for sale.

The Rolls-Royce was parked when a car hit it about 5-10 miles an hour so it is a repairable dent which is entirely cosmetic with no "chassis" damage. The title remains clear with no notations.

The car was repainted at some stage in its life but for a correct restoration, tcalls for a complete repaint for consistency (in our opinion). Besides the obvious dent, here are colour mismatched areas, hips and scratches with a varying degree of paint defects around the car. Please see all photos. Chrome is in average condition. Stainless is excellent as is glass. The rear tail-lamps are brand new fitted by PWM. The Everflex top appears to be a brand new fitment and done well.

The interior of the car is very good. PWM was engaged to redo the wood and this was all done ($5,000) not too long ago. It looks absolutely outstanding and is to show presentation. The wood alone could be sold for a hefty sum. The front seats were re-upholstered in correct Connolly style genuine leather some 5-10 years ago and are virtually perfect. The rear seat presents ok, ut the leather is hard in places with some splits starting to show. It looks like the rear seats were previously repaired and dyed to match the front. Headliner needs replacing as it is grubby as are the carpets. The front section of the dash needs its leather replaced or repaired. The forward section appears to have already been done so is perfect. The rear parcel shelf is excellent. The trunk needs carpet and vinyl refinishing on the under lid.

The car drives and stops albeit with soft brakes. We have done distances of 10 and 20 miles at the time of listing without any issues. The plan for the car was a complete going over all the mechanicals. This has NOT been done so work remains outstanding. Engine, ransmission, nd brakes all need to be reviewed. Some items were done by PWM to include a light service on brakes, lush hydraulic systems with new oil and system bled so it is in "operational" state but not what you would call "serviced usable".The car shows 63,000 miles but we have no documentation to support the authenticity.

We cannot comment on the car mechanically beyond this as it requires a full going-over and to include all the usual nuances associated with Silver Shadow and Corniche of the era. In this regard, lease understand no representations can be made and as such the car is being sold strictly on an "as-is" basis. Underside photos are included in the photo link.

This all said, he car makes for a great restoration project. Everything on these cars are rebuildable and with the correct dedication and money could be turned into a great car. This is not a project for the faint-hearted, ind you. These cars can cost handsomely to achieve the end result. It deserves the commitment of a full-on repair and restoration to make this into a fine example. As coupes are rare compared to convertibles, hey are increasing in value. Whereas sub-standard condition cars can be bought for $30,000, op examples are achieving $70,000 plus. We have considerable comparative values to share with you, n this regard.
Given we are
sellingthis Coupe with NO RESERVE I am expecting someone will pick up a bargain.

**PLEASE read auction terms and conditions below BEFORE bidding.**

~~oo00oo~~

This Rolls-Royce is part of a private collection. Although licensed and bonded, am not a main-stream retail car dealer or broker; I am a professional car collector of some 30 years with considerable experience and knowledge of British cars. I have a long standing reputation being associated with the Rolls-Royce marque which I take seriously. I take pride in my cars and have fun in collecting and restoring them. However, uctions are not a game so when you place a bid or offer, nd you are the winning bidder, lease understand you have entered a binding contract. You cannot bid and win the auction and expect not to meet the terms and conditions. Bidding and/or winning does not mean you are expecting me to “hold” the car until you have the opportunity to inspect it. Any inspection contemplated should be undertaken BEFORE you bid or make an offer and I openly welcome any potential buyer to come and personally inspect the car. Once you bid or make an offer, ou are doing so to buy WITHOUT conditions. Your bid can not be subject to anything. A $2000.00 deposit (non-refundable) is required within 24 hours of the close of the auction and payable by PayPal. The balance of funds are required within 7 days of the close of the auction and must be provided by cashier’s check or bank wire. I cannot accept PayPal for the balance unless you are willing to meet the cost of transfer fees. Full payment must be made (and payments cleared) before the title and/or the vehicle is released. All payments are non-refundable. Payments as described above form an important part of this purchase contract and so, f all the funds are not received as outlined above, reserve the right to terminate the transaction without notice. If there has been any deposit or other part payments received and I elect to terminate the contract, reserve the right to keep any such deposits or payments and resell the vehicle to another bidder or interested party or re-list the vehicle at any time. To be clear, f you change your mind for ANY reason and do not complete the transaction in the time-frame required, ou will forfeit your deposit. I am happy to assist with shipping arrangements on a national and worldwide basis but the winning bidder takes full responsibility for pickup and/or shipping and at his cost.

This is considered a "project" car and as such we do not in any way attest to its mechanical and/or operational condition. For this reason it is necessary for the following condition:

The vehicle is being sold "as-is/where-is" with no warranty expressed, ritten or implied. Any descriptions or representations are made with reasonable judgment and all efforts are made to ensure fair assessment and accuracy but they are for descriptive and identification purposes only and are not to be construed as a warranty of any type. The seller shall not be responsible for errors in description, uthenticity, enuineness, r defects herein and makes no warranty in connection therewith. If any aspect of the description contradicts what can be seen in the photos, hen the photos shall prevail as the reference point. No allowance or set aside will be made on account of any incorrectness, nforeseen imperfection, efect or damage. It is the responsibility of the buyer to have satisfied himself as to the condition and value and to bid based upon that judgment solely. The seller shall and will make every reasonable effort to disclose any known defects at the buyer’s request prior to the close of the auction. Seller assumes no responsibility for any repairs regardless of any written or oral statements about the vehicle. Being a classic car in excess of 10 years of age, n most US states, he mileage may be recorded as “exempt”. In this regard the seller makes no warranties as to the accuracy of the mileage indicated or shown. I can hold the vehicle up to 30 days while you arrange shipping but you must immediately insure it. I will not bear any responsibility for any additional costs including storage, ransportation, r repair after the close of the auction. Whereas I am happy to store the car in excess of 30 days from auction end, cost of $35 per day shall apply beyond 30 days of auction end. Any legal arbitration or action involving the transaction of any sort shall be in the jurisdiction of the seller which is Lake County, st1>Illinois, st1>USA.

PLEASE; IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO ABIDE BY THESE TERMS, ONTACT ME BEFORE YOU CONTEMPLATE DOING SO AS, ESPECTFULLY, HERE CAN BE NO EXCEPTIONS.

I am sorry if these terms seem harsh but there seem to be some very unrealistic buyers out there - fortunately, nly few of these people exist but those that do can make life difficult, o it appears EVERYTHING needs to spelled out. Very simply put, his is an old car in need of restoration being offered for sale. Besides the accident damage, t is not new and is subject to the perils of age. Further, olls-Royces are not without nuances, diosyncrasies and they are renown for a host of design issues which can make them not inexpensive to repair and maintain. So, lease respect the terms and conditions when you bid.

On Feb-24-16 at 14:26:50 PST, eller added the following information:

For those who have requested, have added photos of the underside of the car to the photo link. You will see the car is very "dry" and clean underneath with no rust. The car resided in California most of its life and currently holds a California title.

Also, have been able to confirm the car was originally a Swiss delivery. An interesting bit of its history is that it actually was featured at the 1967 Motor Show in Brussels and then subsequently sold by Garage de l'Athenee SA, enevas. A nice bit of history there!
