We see Mustangs EVERY DAY (and we see everything) and we still get a little weak kneed when we see these. These cars just look cool from every angle. No wonder why they remain the icons of the Muscle Car Era. Venues like Barret Jackson have been bringing HUGE $$$ with Shelby prices climbing into the stratosphere and pulling up the herd as a whole. With Carrol's passing and an improving economy it looks like they are set for a nice price jump. This '68 is in great shape. Recently emerging from a $12k repaint in its factory Lime Gold Metallic it looks very classy with a nice fit & finish through out. The door jams. trunk interior and underhood paint are all very nice. The hood. nose cone. decklid. rear end caps and side scoops are all original fiberglass pieces. The factory emblems. trim & bumpers were used. They do show some very minor wear. but overall they present very nice and add to the originality of this car. The convertible top was replaced when the car was repainted only a couple of years ago. The car of course has been stored in a heated indoor garage since and shows extremely well. The top mechanism is extremely clean and functions like new. Inside the mostly original interior shows very well. There is some minor wear on the seats. but overall they look very nice. The carpet was replaced about 10 years ago but is in excellent condition. The original door panels. roll bar and dash look great. As a testiment to how well this car has been treated the rare factory Tilt-Away steering column still works like new. If you have never experienced one of these. they are quite cool. Making getting in or out very easy for even the largest of drivers. The factory AM radio was replaced with an AM 8-Track unit. I don't have an 8-track to try but the AM unit works. The '68 Shelby Specific Console still looks great and the factory oil & amp gauges work nicely. Under that gorgeous hood the engine compartment looks incredible. With a high end detail just completed it looks just like 1968 all over again. The valve covers and air cleaner were just refinished to their original crinkle finish with machined fins. The Shelby specific aluminum intake has been cleaned and a 715 cfm 4181 Holley carburetor feeds the 302. The engine compartment has been finished in the correct satin black with correct bolts from AMK where needed to replace faded originals. The undercarriage looks to be in great shape. It has been a sunny day driver for most of its life so it still presents well. The floorpans all appear to be original with no signs of replacement or prior damage. The torque boxes are very clean with excellent seams and the frame rails are super clean as well. The exhaust is a concours correct replacement with only a handful of miles on it. It is correct down to the exhaust tips with a nice. deep note. The correctly-plated finish complete with the transverse muffler looks great. While not a show undercarriage. it presents extremely well for a non-restored original. The rare 10-Spoke 15" wheels are original and in good condition. Many of these were damaged over the years from accidents or just corrosion. These originals are in good condition. They have been wrapped in Goodyear tires. To keep the original look the Goodyear name has been painted white as the originals were.
