Description of 1962 Studebaker 7E13D 4x4

After searching 30 years for a Studebaker 4 wheel drive truck, purchased this truck 10 years ago. However, have come to the realization that I do not have the time, pace or energy to restore it. It is one of 35 4 wheel drive trucks produced with the factory NAPCO 4 wheel drive conversion in 1962. This truck was previously owned by the late Asa Hall, noted Studebaker truck collector and co-author of "The Studebaker Century" .

As a one ton truck (model 7E13D) is has a V-8 engine and sits on a 131"wheelbase. Power is transmitted to the transfer case via a 4 speed transmission. I have not started the truck in several years but the engine is free and should crank over with fresh fuel and new ignition parts. While I previously rebuilt the master cylinder and other brake components, he brakes are currently down and will need attention.

The truck is solid as shown by the pictures of the cab steps. There is the typical rot at the rear of the front fenders, ut I have a set of used fenders that the winning bidder will have the option of purchasing separately. The cab steps and floor are good as is the leading edge of the hood, ften a bad spot on this model. The seat cushion has a hole in the middle but the rest is intact. The hard to find floor mat is intact and the odometer is showing 27,792 miles but I have no way of knowing if that is accurate.

It has a 9' flatbed with a metal frame and wooden bed. Some of the wood in the floor is beginning to rot and the center section of the left set of racks has rotted at the hinge. The center side section of the racking swings out to allow loading from the side as well as from the rear. As shown in the pictures there are auxiliary springs in the rear.

The truck is located between Richmond and Charlottesville, A and will need to be picked up the week of September 13 unless prior arrangements are made. I have all the paperwork for the truck and will accept cash, ank wire transfer or a certified check. If payment is made by certified check, he title will be released once I have confirmation of the payment clearing.

I am away from the truck until Saturday September 12th, ut will be able to answer any questions via e-mail in the interim. I have set a fair reserve on the truck and it is well below what the red 1962 Tutweiler brothers truck brought 2 months ago.

This auction is a binding contract and the winning bidder will be expected to close the transaction. This will require that you have the funds in place, ave spousal approval and be able to pick up the truck as described above at the close of the auction.

Good luck!
