Description for Studebaker Champion 1950

Excellent original car. It is mostly unrestored original except for the repaint and seat covers that were done in the original style. It has the original running gear including a flathead six, manual 3 on the three column shif, one barrel carburetor, 6 volt electric charging system and mechanical fuel pump that is on the side of the motor. It has landmark styling. It was Studebaker's best year. Parts are easy to get for this car. I also have extra parts of my own that are for sale. It doesn't have any modifications. It would be like catching a ride with Marty Mcfly in the Delorean back to 1955 and buying a nice used car. And my price is much cheaper than it was new. New it was around the equivalent of 50 ounces of gold which was set by the government at that time of $35 per ounce. Now only 7 ounces of gold and far prettier. Like most old cars someone replaced a few of the copper lines under the hood with rubber lines. they wouldn't be hard to change out. I drive it every day and often at night that when not raining. We rarely have snow here so that's not an issue. The 6 volt charging system keeps up fine. It has 3 options from the factory, hill holder, map light and overdrive. The hill holder keeps the car from rolling back as you are taking off on a hill. The car would be real easy for a beginning standard driver to learn. The overdrive will engage when you let off of the clutch when you go over 40. To start it you turn the key to on and depress the clutch as the starter button is under the clutch. Studebaker was again ahead of its time by being concerned with safety 30 years before the government required depressing the clutch to start a standard shift. I have driven it 450 miles in the last 12 days in stop and go traffic and at highway speeds so yes it is reliable. It always starts up and it never acts up. I would feel comfortable driving it anywhere with roads. It handles good and has a nice ride. I can't see any mechanical work that it needs to continue driving it any day. Every door, window and vent works like new. It has vents in the fenders that give some nice air flow toward your feet. They should of put that in modern cars. The headlights, turn signals, brake lights, tail lights, parking lights and interior lights all work. The original plastic knobs on the window cranks, gear shifter and turn signal lever barely have any cracks in them. You can see your reflection in all of the chrome. There isn't anything missing from the car. It has a fresh oil change and new spark plugs. It was a Kansas car most of its life so its rust free just minor surface rust on the underside. The interior still has a nice smell to it. I have the original owners manual. The service instructions are still in the glove box. The door and truck locks still work inside and outside. I have two sets of keys to it. All of the original dash gauges still work except for the temperature gauge. I have an aftermarket one that is installed. I don't believe that you are going to find a nicer one unless it had a full restoration. The mileage that I listed is what is showing on the odometer. I was required to list something. I am not sure of its exact mileage. The odometer still works and is accurate. I do have a clear title in my name on hand.
