Description of 1986 Subaru Brat GL Standard Cab Pickup 2-Door

This may be one of the nicest Subaru BRATs in existence. I am the third owner, and it has spent it's life in Oregon and Tucson, Arizona. The body is rust free and arrow straight, and the interior is original and in superb condition. It has the correct cloth seat inserts, perfect door panels, and an excellent dash, free from cracks and fading.
This BRAT is in excellent mechanical condition. The engine runs well, and has a new radiator, rebuilt starter, new motor mounts, new valve cover gaskets, and all the valves were checked for proper clearances. Oil was changed to Mobil 1 synthetic, with a new filter. The transmission shifts well, and the gear oil has just been changed to synthetic blend. Both fuel filters are new, and the air conditioner was recently serviced and blows cold. It is still R-12. Both cooling fans work well. Factory stereo still plays very well.
The bed is very clean, and has a tinted spray-in bedliner on the floor, with excellent wheel wells. I have not put anything in the bed since the car was painted last year.
When I purchased this BRAT, it was an excellent original car, but looked very tired in it's faded paint. I had a local custom shop completely disassemble the body, removing the fenders, bumpers, doors. tailgate, and hood. A few patch panels were installed on the inner rocker panels, and they even duplicated the factory welds. A few rust spots were found in the cowl area, and these were also repaired with the proper gauge patch panels. The car was sanded to bare metal, primed, and then painted in the original metallic blue, utilizing a base-clear process. The finished product was then wet sanded and buffed for an excellent shine. I don't believe any of these cars looked this good when they were brand new. I even had the shop repaint the air cleaner and jack in the correct light blue, and they detailed the inner fenders and firewall area. The entire process was documented with photos, which I can provide to the new buyer.
Known Faults:
Front tires are evenly worn and starting to show age cracks. I would replace all four before taking any long trips.
One of the CV joints is just starting to click when turning. A new rebuilt axle assembly is included.
Oil pressure gauge does not function. Car has excellent oil pressure, and the warning light still works.
Windshield washer is untested. I also have not used the four wheel drive, but the previous owner did and had no trouble with it.
Spare Parts Included:
Rebuilt CV axleRebuilt carburetor (The one on the car functions fine)New water pumpExtra set of center caps for the wheelsExtra full sized spare, plus compact spareLots of miscellaneous pieces and parts
I also have plenty of cool ephemera that goes with the car. The original owners manual, complete with the factory plastic pouch, and a factory sales brochure. I will even throw in a matching blue 80's vintage Dustbuster, plus a set of period tire chains that also came with the car.
Clear Arizona title in my name- the car is currently registered and insured, and passed Arizona State emissions last year.
