Description of 1966 Toyota Land Cruiser

1966 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40Toyota developed its first-generation Land Cruiser in the early 1950s in response to the growing demand for military-type four-wheel-drive vehicles in Japan -- and its resemblance to the Willys Jeep was unmistakable. The second-generation FJ40 debuted in 1960, nd by 1965 was the best-selling Toyota in the U.S. (granted, ll Japanese sales were pretty low in the face of Detroit's pre-gas-crisis supremacy at the time). But the FJ40 has achieved quite a following in the 50 years since its introduction thanks to iconic design and incredible off-road capabilities. This example, hard-to-find 1966 model, s highly correct and unmolested and has just received a thorough mechanical and cosmetic freshening. Fenders are uncut, ash is uncut, teering wheel is original, teel wheels are original, eat frames are original, auges are original... From the original Aisin carburetor (with a glass viewer into the float bowl) to the oil-bath air filter and original glass bowl on the fuel filter, his truck is bone stock. About the only modification under the hood is the oil filter mount relocation to make oil changes easier and less messy. Mechanically, he original 3.9 liter F motor runs great and the whole truck is very well-sorted. The column shifter feels great and is still incredibly precise even after 45 years. The dash-mounted four-wheel drive controls function well, nd both high and low range work properly. The steering and brakes feel great, nd there are new brake cylinders on the front wheels and new shocks all around. This FJ also has a new muffler and new fuel, emp and oil pressure sending units. The original gauges, ndicator lights and dash illumination work flawlessly. Always cranks on the first try, ven on the coldest days. Yes, t handles like a tractor. No, t doesn't have air conditioning. Or a radio. But it is awesome. This FJ40 is a head-turner and always gets comments wherever I drive it. Cosmetically, he truck looks as good as it runs.Garage keptRecently rebuilt carburetorAll new wheel cylindersCargo rack included
