Description of 1982 Toyota FJ Cruiser FJ 40

1982 Toyota FJ40. Owned since 1990. Originally from Colorado. Has been used as a winter vehicle in East Tennessee (not known for bad winters) and for trips to our lake house. Engine was completely overhauled just over 5000 miles ago. A complete restoration was done 12 years ago. At that time, we decided to replace the steel tub with an aluminum tub (not cheap, but no more rust concerns). We added a larger front bumper to accommodate the winch (not to use but just for looks). The original carburetor was replaced with a Holley and it performs so much better and more consistently. I have a private landing strip and hangar on my property and the FJ has spent most of it's time in the hanger beside by seldom used airplane—I have kept it serviced, but we have just about stopped driving it, thus the sales effort. The color looks silver in photos, but it actually has a very mild green tint to it—definitely not original, but very attractive, while not show quality. The paint looks great from 10 feet away, but the match of the tub and the doors is not perfect—not obvious to the amateur, but noticeable, yet acceptable to me and my use of it. I recently had the front hubs rebuilt, brakes redone and everything resealed (trans, transfer case, front and rear diff) at the total cost of $2700. The oil pan had to be replaced as well (small pin hole). Everything works and works well. Engine pulls strong, clutch is perfect and the steering is a direct and responsive as a new FJ40 (which ain't all that great). The aftermarket radio works great with the former "pool-side" speakers I installed. I know it looks weird but sounds great. Seats are fine but fabric looks tired. Original floor mat is rare and in great condition. This will be one of the best you will find from a mechanical standpoint. If you have any questions Please call!!!! Thank you for viewing.
